Purple tank lateral line disease

Hello Sir, by the way do you have a yellow tang in your cube? I thought I saw that the other day?! I didn’t have anywhere to put my purple so I put him my 93 cube, I know it’s a little small for a tang but mine looks really healthy and seems happy! Swims in and out the rock structure picking on rocks and is active but not stressed! My whole rock structure is hallow in the inside. He’s with a tomini and tank is otherwise lightly stocked. Was a rescue tank for the tomini! Thank you!

Yes, have a 2" in there who is very happy and funny is I have a 5" in my 360 with a tomini and many other tangs

I have a yellow tang but in a diff qt tank. I have ich in my system that I battering for a long time. I just got fed up and tore the tank down bleached everything and once I was ad it I upgraded my tank to a larger 1. So I out all my fish in small qt tanks and treating
Fourfordfamily and hotrocks have a great quarantine recommendation thread and is really detailed. I just started quarantining in 2018. Before that never had to. Had ick in 300 gal. Just kick ick which killed 75% of my coral while we were on vacation my house sitter finished the treatment. We also used garlic, vitamins, nori and huge UV sterilizer. Haven’t seen ick in over a year. Knock on wood! But I didn’t want to take any chances setting up new tank. Have seen a lot of disease at several LFS lately. I have all kinds of problems with my other 300 gal fish only tank and lost three fish in 2 months :( have ick and fin rot. Have copper in whole tank because I didn’t have enough quarantine for super large fish! The ick isn’t killing my fish it’s the fin rot. We are removing the copper tonight has been 32 days. Will take several days to clear most of the copper deep sand bed and lots of rocks. Not a good idea and don’t recommend I just didn’t have a choice. Will do UV sterilizer after we treat with Rally which I ordered and waiting one. My biofilter is too new and fragile to treat whole tank with antibiotics so I’m hoping rally will work. My reefs are health and fish only a disaster. Got a puffer dripped three times in hydroplex and did copper and still got ick in display tank. I couldn’t even see the ick on the puffer. We upgraded this tank from 180 in nov. hasn’t gone well at all. Fourfordfamily has been tremendously helpful to me answering my questions and giving advice. He didn’t recommend copper in display but understood my situation.

That’s cool! I know you like your tangs! My new tank is going awful and my Sohal 10” that we bought the new tank for has some disease and I don’t know what to do. We also got ick in the tank. And then fin rot. Lost three fish since setting up tank. Thought Sohal had hole in head used general cure and got worse. Gets worse daily. In copper now day 32. Going to use carbon tonight and start to remove copper. Then Rally for the fin rot. Have had ammonia and nitrites also with this new tank the biofilter just didn’t establish. Have added like 6 bottles of Dr Timms. It’s a long story. We changed over the tank from 180 to 300 in one day used same rocks new sand , same bioballs. But my husband put in some dry rock which had to cycle and I think killed the while biofilter relaxing ammonia. Then we got ick now fin rot and Sohal is still sick and I’ve spent like 7k trying setting up and treating this tank. All powerheads and heater new and good diet so I don’t think HLLE but I don’t really know? Any suggestions.

Cool! So I'm going 2 do 15 days copper and 15 days prazi. Bu that time my tank should b cycled. I'm using red sea reef mature to cycle my tank. I have 4 at tanks at the moment. Got them in Petco for $1 a gallon sale
That’s a great deal! Lov it when they do that. We only have 40gal quarantine. Have our tusk in there now on like 8th treatment for fin rot and pop eye has only eaten 2 krill since nov 30th but still alive . I have no idea how. We didn’t cycle our 300 fish only correctly and have been paying for it ever since. Would have been fine if we didn’t add dry rock. Which I argued against but my husband wanted it all in at once instead of adding some of the rock later. We reused our sump and skimmer so transfer everything over from 180 to 300 in one day. We should have cycled it the right way! Our bad. I hope yours turns out ok. I think it will! Good luck let us know.

Thanks. My new s

My new System is very nice. Its 150 gallon DT plumbed to a 40 gallon sump in the basement. I rarely touch the display tank. I do all my maintenance in the basement. Another cool thing is that the sump is in the same room as my heater for the house and the room get very hot so I dont run a heater in my tank.

HLLE is common in zebrasoma tangs in copper to varying degrees. Zoecon works well soaked in foods. They tend to clear back up post-treatment, typically.

over the sohol tangs. I have 3 and they all died in qt. 1 from LFS, 1 from LA divers den and the 3rd was from a different online store and 2 days in to qt he broke out with velvet and died within 12 hours.
When I get my new tank up running a cycled I will try again. I will add him in last since he is very aggressive.

Sounds really nice lucky that we have basements! Our sumps are in basement too. Helps a lot for water changes and maintenance. Wish you the best.

My Sohal is 10” and is over 12yrs. I do t know what’s wrong with her. She looks awful. We upgraded to this 8’ tank to give her more room was in 180, 6’. She doesn’t acted stressed is super fat, eats well and plays nice with all the fish! I really hope I can figure out what’s wrong with her. I can’t quarantine because she would need a huge quarantine tank as big as she is! I love this fish! I would definitely do another. But needs lots of room I’ve learned here. Was in 120 when we rescued her. Well hope it all works out for you and the purple. I think it will!

Here is Sohal. Was gorgeous and health in sept. In oct I noticed ? HLLE so we bought the 8’ tank in nov. then got worse and looks like hole in head. Treated with general cure and still got worse.
She’s not photogenic moves all over when I try to picture her!
None of her tank mates are health now either. Emperor is sick. Koran turned yellow for I don’t know why???

From Sheboygan here. Try adding fritz zyme turbo 900 for added bacteria. The sohal may respond well to a 4-5 min freshwater dip and bump up vitamins in food such as Selcon and water. Additionally, Dr. Tims works well but is a temporary fix until bacteria is established.
What method are you using to test water ? Perhaps take a sample to Reefs aquatics in green Bay to compare with your tests and see where you are at. Sohals are tough cookies.

We are using brand new API for ammonia, ph and nitrite tested the same when we took water to Pepe. Using Hanna checker for copper, refractometer flr salinity. Have four super powerful bubblers for O2 and outside airline to skimmer. Use vitamins and feed nori daily. Cut back on food to help prevent ammonia. Here’s a picture of what we feed. They get a combo mixture. I rotate what we feed daily due to eel and all different sizes of fish in the tank. I will look on line for the bacteria you suggested. See if we could catch the Sohal but that might be tough, she’s a beast! But can try it. Pepe wants us to try this bacteria too because we got fin rot in the tank. Two fish already died before I could even treat it and a third is in quarantine getting kanaplex. Already treated the tusk with furon, erythromycin, prazi, epison salts, and kanaplex twice. Barely has much fin left. Had bilateral popeye, and didn’t eat from nov 28th until last week. Then it ate one krill then we fed theee days later ate one krill then another 2 days one krill. Now hasn’t eaten again in a week. Tried to feed today, took food and spit it out. Darn thing is still alive so we are trying kanaplex again because it was the only thing that worked on the popeye and it started to come back on sat. After two days of kanaplex is gone again???
I don’t know what kind of bacteria we contracted or where it came from but it’s tearing through my fish like crazy. Now my emperor has popeye and my foxface looks like it is getting the fin rot. So Pepe said to add the bacteria and lower salinity to 1.020
Once we get the copper out of the tank. Did water change this am 50gal. Running carbon now. Will change water again tomorrow night. We have like 6 issues going on in this tank and trying not to make too many adjustments all at once. Koran angel also turned yellow but has no symptoms and swims and eats. I have no idea what that is about. Thank you so much for your help. Here’s good picture and bacteria we just got will add in 2-3 days. Does the food look ok? Plus nori. The reefs are fine thank goodness!

By the way, I saw your drop off tank the other day and it looks great! Hope you keep up posting pictures of it!

What’s the different between the Dr Timms one and only and the fritz Zyme 9 bacteria?
Thank you!

Fritz has more cultures for speedy seeding of anerobic and denitrifying bacteria. The foods are all good quality you have. Try feeding without the vitamins and see if is spitting out because of the vitamin taste. I do a couple drops in food 2x per week. New tank syndrome is a nightmare

15 days copper will work if you do TTM (tank transfer method) if not doing that you’ll need 30 days of copper to beat ich.

Thank you very much! Will keep working on it and I will order the bacteria today. It’s been a roller coaster since dec 1. We bought this tank to give the fish more room and hopefully longer happier lives and all we did was mesh up all the fish! :( thank you very much for your help. We will keep trying to get it right. It was so much easier when upgraded the reef.
