Red Sea tank failing?!?

Yikes. This after the prior issues with the stand construction on the larger reefer tanks. Put me down in the “never Red Sea” column.

Crazy! Hope they help you out, I cant believe they delete peoples post, I would never buy Red Sea tanks.

after the negative response and belittling/bullying I’ve received for bringing this up, I’m just tearing my tank down and selling everything off. Red Sea is a cheap company, who clearly doesn’t stand behind there products

I've just checked my 250 and it is slightly pushed out. I would expect the silicon to give slightly.
Maybe it is within spec?

I agree there’s some give, but not enough that the panel should feel loose and there be stretch marks in the silicone. I see every ones point of view, it’s just odd that after 4 months this decided to happen.

Hey everyone. A few posts have been removed. Please keep things civil and also please don’t bring any Facebook drama you may have here. Thank you.

I hope that you get it sorted.
Please keep this thread updated with any response that you get from Red Sea.
I shall be keeping a close eye on my 250 in the meantime.

Contact Red Sea and get them involved. Call them direct. I understand you’re taking it down but if you decide to sell You can at least sell it with a new tank and get more money from the sale.

Kettle bit of an update from Red Sea. They took my photos I sent of the issue, but want more photos in “normal” light, I guess the sun isn’t normal.
Let's hear what they have to say. I've sent pictures to RS as well, more to log the 'issue' than in expectation. Your tank sounds worse than mine.

That sucks I would be raising Cain! I got wood floors and my wife would kill me if I ruined them. That being said my reefer 170 and reefer 250 are rock solid and I have no complaints. Stuff happens and the one with the most sales usually will receive the most complaints. I hope RS takes care of you though it’s no joking matter. Play the game with them, send them Picts in 100 diferent lighting situations. Choke them out with e mails and Picts and they should do what’s right

I hope you can get it settled. I guess hook up the tank light and send those pics?

Tank lights are on, but when I took the photo the other day, the sun was coming threw and you could really notice the stress marks in the silicone. With just the tank lights, you can’t notice it as easy. You can see the lighter colored line going vertical with the silicone seem.

Tank started doing this 2 weeks ago, before it was perfectly even, I’ve noticed the panel has gotten “looser” over the past week, if I push slightly on it, it goes back in. There is a light grey link in the silicone seem.

if you can push it in... then the water can push it out

maybe you can get flat steel rods from home depot and glue it to both edges for reenforcement? or a corner pieces and glue it to the entire back edge?

Start by opening a SERVICE TICKET and start talking to Customer Support Managers. Move up the chain...

You always have the threat of calling the Better Business Bureau in Houstin Texas
Screw the BBB. Tell them your next call is an attorney for the damage it is about to cause your home.

when you spend $2600 on a tank, that’s suppose to be “top” of the line, you shouldn’t have to modify it. If I wanted to play handyman, I would’ve built my own tank again.

This is my 250. It doesn't look bad at all but if you put s straight edge on the side panel there is about 1/2 mm of daylight.
I checked on the Reefer 250 set up at my lfs and it also looks similar.
