Started at 20 and am 52 now.. There are some gaps in there between tanks... one of them being 15 years since my previous last tank... current is just 9 months old now.

Usually....

18-24 yr olds = are know-it-alls. they have an answer for every problem

25-49 yr olds = have enough money to keep trying new things and failing, lol. Constantly seeking the Holy Grail of Reefs

50-80 yr olds = stuck in their ways and will tell you exactly how to run your tank when you haven't even ask them to. Lol

Also For all the reefers on here did you guys do prior research or did you just throw stuff together and ask the LFS

I didn't ask the LFS. I had run SW and FW tanks ten years prior (1990). I saw reef tanks were more popular when I started in 2000. I bough a few magazines and found the internet forums and dusted off the tank that was in storage.

It is still a learn as you go hobby for me, tweaking things along the way.
