Reefers age

So I saw a post 10 minutes ago about prefers in collage. What age do people actually reef at? I only know a select few but just wanted to know

I “started” when I was 14. Tho my dad did most the work. I am 17 now and do everything myself

I’ve wanted to do saltwater since I saw a volitans lion when I was 5 or 6.

I am now 30 and am in the final steps of setting up my first reef. Had a fish only tank for two years now.

Lol I can see this. I did exactly this with my freshwater. Had to set up tanks for all the babies had 7 going at one time. That was too much I couldn’t imagine several saltwater tanks. I have only 2 saltwater now and they keep me occupied.

Lol I can see this. I did exactly this with my freshwater. Had to set up tanks for all the babies had 7 going at one time. That was too much I couldn’t imagine several saltwater tanks. I have only 2 saltwater now and they keep me occupied.

Yeah its definitely work maintaining everything but i enjoy the hobby alot. 1 is freshwater, 2 are mixed reefs, 1 fish qt tank, and the last is a frag tank/coral and invert qt.

First tanks back in the olden days, first saltwater tank was in the late 70's, early 80's. I'm turning 59 this year.

Started in saltwater in 1988 when youngest son was born. was out of the hobby for
about 6 years. back in 3 years ago. Parents had freshwater tanks as I was growing up.
I'm now 62

IMO ‘reefing’ didn’t really start for the average hobbyist until the early/mid 1980s when wet-dry filters became popular.
I started salt water right after college in 1973… and reefs in ‘86. Just turned 70 a couple days ago ! I’m about to move my 1200+ gallons of SW tanks to a new home this month. New house also has a 1 acre bass filled pond…but I’m not a fisherman!
