Rock Anemones Rock

Oh my god my nano I have planned will have so many rock flower nems after seeing this
I'm sure these a are little bit harder to find... I sell a lot of them at work to shops and they end up just keeping them for their personal displays. Its actually pretty funny(hadnt seen one of these in a long, long while but cornbred as one almost the size of the palm of my hand)

It's a bad pic from my phone and it was on a ramp down of light but these are my 7 babies. The mostly Green near the front and the little red in the back are new from the cherry sale. I can't wait to see the ones from SD sale.. I really hope they match the pictures since so many folks say they got the same ones. I have one from a store here (all the way in the back green and white), the rest have come from online stores. No one in my area seems to be able to get them, I guess cause I am on the wrong side of the US. Not much movement from them except the watermelon all the way on the left, I put him in from of the rock and he moved to the back of it. I think that was a 8 inch trip at least. Once they attach to a rock I don't seem to be able to get them off so they rule the tank. (I need a new bigger tank so I can get more.)

Has anyone tried this acclimation method, the source seems to have great success with rock nems but it just seems strange to me
"Upon receiving place on top the shipping box styrofoam lid. Make sure styrofoam lid is clean. You can place them there for about a couple of minutes so they purge all water from their bodies. You can introduce them to your aquarium after a couple of minutes once they have purged a good amount of water from shipping."
This is how I acclimate mine as well. Never had an issue.

I just bought five of these and they'll be delivered Tuesday. I'm so excited I can't stand it. Can I ask how much you paid and what size they were when you got them?

How was your order? Was it what you were hoping for?

Nope, no long drip acclimation needed. I just open the bags dump out water making sure the nem doesn't leave the bag too ( can you imagine one slipping down the drain?) and put them on a Styrofoam lid for about 5 min to get them to let the water out of themselves then pick up gently and place them where I want them with no pumps on. Then I spend the next few days watching for any that seem unhappy where I put them, like I have one from my most recent order that went up into a small space that I can't get to so I hope he comes back out into the light soon. I am up to 12 of them over the last year now and they all did just fine with this process.

Sorry I've taken so long to respond. I got my five nems in a few weeks ago. I've posted the pictures from the vendor here but I'll take some from the tank soon. They showed up exactly as I'd hoped. I didn't know about this acclimation method of putting them on styrofoan and letting them drain their old water - I just drip acclimated them and they did fine. I got two large ones (1.5-2") and three medium ones (1"-1.5"). Because they were inexpensive I expected them to be smaller or the coloring not to be true to the pictures. I was very pleasantly surprised. I put them on the sand bed so that they would be front and center but they popped up and floated around and found their own spots. Unfortunately most went up against rock structures so they are all sort of folded in half and aren't as easy to see them fully opened as I'd like but they are still incredibly beautiful and they eat very well.

I was cleaning the tank yesterday and picked up a rock that one was attached to. When I did that I saw his foot was attached to the underside of the rock and now I couldn't put the rock back because it would crush him and I have a favia on the top. So i propped the rock up so that he was underneath - overnight he moved all the way around to the other side of the rock and is attached happily there.

I'm thinking about adding a porcelain crab in there with them this week. I'm curious if anyone has had one and if they're a danger to my fish?

How are yours DiverGirl? Is the baby still alive?

They really like rocks or something solid to attach to. I bury rock rubble and shells in the sand where I want them and they seem happy to attach to that. Once they get attached to a main piece of your rock structure its very hard to get them off. They tend to come out large and round when they feel comfortable even if they look all squished now.

Could you post pictures of the rock anemones around these ranges of lighting? 10k, 14k and 20k? I'm interested in rock anemones too but I'd like to know what they look like in these ranges. Thanks!

Looking good. They're beautiful. Mine are doing well. The baby is still alive. I had to put a little piece of screen material over the pvc cap I've got it in because it went exploring one night. I got up in the morning and it wasn't in the cap. I eventually found it and got it back in the cap thankfully.

I had a anemone porcelain crab with my last set. No problems with fish or the nems. You just have to be sure to feed enough for both. I will be getting another one for these guys as well. I also had regular porcelain crabs. They are no danger but more reclusive.

They can sting but it is very weak. My serpent star did an interesting dance across the "garden" a few nights ago but is no worse for all his stings
