Rock Anemones Rock

I just bought five of these and they'll be delivered Tuesday. I'm so excited I can't stand it. Can I ask how much you paid and what size they were when you got them?

5, nice. Post some pics once they settle in. Mine were about an inch and a half to two inches. Except the baby. It's less than a 1/4 inch. Lol, Since I saw how much you paid for yours I think I'd rather not say how much I paid for mine. But it was definitely a good bit more than yours. I've seen prices all over the map. In the $20s up to $120. There's a gorgeous one on ebay that they want the starting bid to be $175. And I saw one on another website for $250.

I'm trying to figure out why the heck mine were so inexpensive. I'm almost afraid to tell people where I bought them!

Well the company is in FL and I believe that's where a lot of the rock nems come from. If they can just go out and collect them themselves maybe that cuts down on their costs so they can sell them cheaper. But that's just a guess. Rock nems don't seem to be really super duper popular right know but if their popularity suddenly takes off then yeah you better keep that name to yourself. ;)

This is interesting. I looked at that site yesterday and I swear every rock nem was listed as $19.99. I just looked at it again and some of the prices are much higher now. We're they all listed as $19.99 when you bought yours?

No, most were but a few were higher prices. I can't see any quality differences based on the pictures so my assumption is they are larger. I'm sort of expecting nickel sized nems. This is a bit of a flyer on my part since I also couldn't find any real reviews on the company. But at those prices I felt it was worth the risk. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Well this is fun. I guess my baby rock nem decided to go walk about last night. Woke up this morning to find the pvc cap I had it in empty. Desperately searched around the area hoping it wasn't just gone. Finally gave up hope but then just happened to spot it way back inside my cave while I was looking my other tank inhabitants over. I don't know if it moved itself or if someone else moved it but now I get the fun task of figuring out how to get it out of there. My serpent sea star had been in a hidey hole on the other side of the tank when I went to bed but now is in a crag right behind where the baby is now. I'm wondering if it had something to do with it.

The pvc cap it was in is on the right and the baby is that little spot on the left in the cave.

It anchored it's foot through the substrate onto the glass while acclimating and i havn't been able to move it since (wanted it the rock).
You guys are lucky in the US as they are really hard to get hold of in the UK, sometimes see one or two around but they are usually ugly.
Oh my gosh – that is absolutely gorgeous!

These are crappy cell pics. I've always read you can cut them. I feed mine once a week. Usually mysis. The females are larger than males. So my green zebra is female and pink zebra is male. There are 12 babies surrounding them that you can really see from the pic.

Very nice. I wish my lfs carried them. Though it's probably best for my wallet that they don't.

I'm thinking of making a 10g breeding tank for them, they are amazing! I've read almost everything on propagation and have been warned heavily to not cut them, it's crazy to see it works for some people! I only have one currently and it moved to the lowest cave I have lol but it still looks good in the dark

Did you get your order?

Has anyone tried this acclimation method, the source seems to have great success with rock nems but it just seems strange to me
"Upon receiving place on top the shipping box styrofoam lid. Make sure styrofoam lid is clean. You can place them there for about a couple of minutes so they purge all water from their bodies. You can introduce them to your aquarium after a couple of minutes once they have purged a good amount of water from shipping."

That sounds kinda odd to me. I don't see how that has anything to do with acclimating them to your system. I just did a regular drip acclimation and they were fine.
