haha, i had freshwater as a kid, but skipped that this go around. had to try the saltwater! i have stumbled upon some really cool videos on youtube by some german dude that does planted tanks and it looks appealing. i just dont want to have to learn something new at the moment, maybe someday. the freshwater fish don't excite me at all, that's my main drawback
i think i've quelled my new tank urge for the year, i bought one of those APS stands for a 20 gallon innovative marine for like $50 when drfosterssmith was having a sale, but i still haven't set up the stand, so it's on my eventual to do list. i rent a house so i kind of want to get into something more permanent before i try my hand at a huge aquarium...... but there's this guy on offerup selling a SCA 150 tank/stand/sump for like $700 and it has been on there for months. it's really bothering me!
I enjoy fish in general but never got into the planted stuff much myself. I honestly think a planted tank is harder than a reef but maybe that's because I'm ignorant to planted tanks. We bought two live plants for my son's tank like a month ago. One died already, java fern is still alive. I won't be adding root tabs or c02 or any of that stuff. If it dies it dies lol.
Same thing here about renting. The plan is to turn the 50 gallon into an office tank. Maybe a species specific or a nem tank or something along those lines.
