Ha I'm the same way when I move. I've moved 5 times in the last 6 years and it felt so good to toss all the trash and unused appliances in the dumpster. By this point I've gotten a good feel for what I'll use and what I won't!

Yeah when we move to a brand new house we may just leave the old stuff behind. Maybe not realistic but I'm hoping that's how it works out. Lol. We're having a garage sale soon and whatever we can't sell we are going to give away. I'm not going to be storing junk just to be tripping over it the next few months or however long we are here.

So I wanted to test Alk today and noticed that my Hanna checker box is "missing".

I had all my Hanna checkers in a smaller box that was inside a bigger box labeled fish tests. I have all my other tests including my Hanna copper checker as I believe that one was outside of the smaller Hanna checkers box. Basically I had put the Hanna checkers back inside the box it shipped in before we moved. Me and my fiancee just checked the whole house and I believe it is "gone".

Now I need to decide if I want to rebuy the checkers.

Yeah I was going to just buy the testers again but I already have a PH meter. I have a API alk test and a red sea alk test. I have an API nitrate test, red sea nitrate test, and salifert nitrate test. I have an API calcium test, and a red sea calcium test. So I kind of don't really need the Hanna checkers.

Would still be nice to have lol.

Yea, api is pretty inaccurate though, that’s gonna bug you. I know you like attention to detail, haha.

Well honestly it has been close enough for most things. I think their calcium test was pretty low for me but the red sea calcium has been pretty good. We will double check every where again tomorrow and if we can't find them then I'll make my decesion then. I do like using "the best" and also the ease of use is a big part of it. Like my Milwaukee salinity reader, I'd replace that thing in a heart beat if it Lost it. It just makes testing saltwater so much easier.

I never even got to use the Hanna calcium checker so I'll look up some videos on how the process is.

I've been away most of Feb & early March and missed your posts while I was about. I just caught up and I like the new set up with the sweet torch. Maybe someday I'll post a build thread, if I ever quit reading everything else on here during my free time.
But this hobby isn't an addiction, I'm in total control of how much time I spend here and on the tank.

Same here I can quit anytime I want...Oh wait no I can't Lol! I think you should post a build thread. I would love to read it and I'm sure others on R2R would also. Make sure you check this thread in a week or so. Hopefully it will be progressing along nicely by then with the new frags and CUC I'm getting in this week.

Woohoo I found my Hanna checkers. What I think happened is I took them out of the box labeled fish tests for some reason. Either to test right before the move or to keep them safe. Haha. My girl threw some random stuff in her car Saturday to help move the last of our stuff over. We were going to double check last night but it was late and we were tired. She checked this morning and sure enough there they are! Woohoo I'm so stoked! Going to test Alk, Calcium, and phosphates in a bit.

So glad I found them!

Test results as follows:

Edit: salinity tested at 1.026 yesterday just for reference.

Exact same as my Red Sea Test. Good to know!



Converts to .006ppm phosphate



Last red sea test was 9.0. So either one of the tests is off a bit or it's dropped in the past 4 days.

Nitrate test from yesterday. It looks like 5ppm.

Installed ATO and reservoir today. Just rigged it up real quick. Going to lay the controller/pump flat right now since it has feet. Will move over to new cabinet when it arrives so will clean up tubing and what not at that time. Also bought a tubing holder on BRS.

New corals have arrived. Have them in a sealed Ziploc until the coral RX dip arrives later. The frag plugs have what is possibly hair algea on them. Going to try hydrogen peroxide.



Corals were in a single bag that appears to have leaked in shipping.



Didn't take a pic of the full bag. It still was covering 2/3 corals. Put that bag inside a Ziploc bag and then temp acclimated. Then opened the Ziploc and poured some tank water in it after taking the corals out of the original bag.

Haha I was thinking the same thing. I guess I was just not exposed to corals before so didn't know how cool they look. I want to get a scoly later on down the road oh and a long polyp toadstool.

Not sure if I posted a pic of this before or not but the torch goes to bed at night lol.



I still don't know very much but think I need to let things stabilize before I get anything too crazy lol.
