SC Aquariums 50 gallon PNP

Yes stabilize and watch parameters because now you have things that require those to live/thrive.
Also learning these things myself.

Yeah going to start looking into 2 part, vs 1 part vs kalkwasser etc. My ATO is kalkwasser safe so need to figure out which route is the best. Decided on staying with IO and adjusting from there when the time comes as it seems like IO is just fine. I mean I'll still entertain the idea of other salts but starting to understand that salt brand is more trivial than steady params.

My Melanarus wrasse seemed to be a fan of the new frags.

Yes IO is fine, honestly they're all just fine, just different params.
Good idea on the ato/dosing research.
Wrasse is cute.

Installed ATO and reservoir today. Just rigged it up real quick. Going to lay the controller/pump flat right now since it has feet. Will move over to new cabinet when it arrives so will clean up tubing and what not at that time. Also bought a tubing holder on BRS.

The tube holder is probably over priced but beats the chance of getting water on the floor.

Build looking good so far.

ATO is essential for the lazy man! I even auto fill mine from my RO/DI reserves via Apex to be even lazier.

I noticed one thing: I looked closely, but it doesn't look like you drilled a venting hole in that orange bucket. Need one otherwise you're going to create some serious auction in that bucket.

@RandyC

That is awesome. I want some kind of alert when the bucket is dry. For now I settled for a reoccurring Google reminder. Thanks for the tip! Someone pointed out the missing vent hole. I went ahead and drilled a 3/32" hole in the lid for venting air.

Holy cow! It glows under my moon lights! What what! Man corals are so awesome, and fish are lame! They don't even glow...well at least not the cool ones (glow fish don't count, those are for kids).

Haha mostly teasing about the fish thing.

Thanks! I'm enjoying it so far. Very fascinating stuff. My girl even mentioned that "my thingies are pretty". Nicest thing she's ever said about the tank lol.

New corals have arrived. Have them in a sealed Ziploc until the coral RX dip arrives later. The frag plugs have what is possibly hair algea on them. Going to try hydrogen peroxide.

Corals were in a single bag that appears to have leaked in shipping.

Didn't take a pic of the full bag. It still was covering 2/3 corals. Put that bag inside a Ziploc bag and then temp acclimated. Then opened the Ziploc and poured some tank water in it after taking the corals out of the original bag.

All looks great! Just curious, did you consider removing the frag plugs if they carried nuisance algae? I always remove the plugs. Only one encrusting coral I had that I could not. Seems that is where most of the nuisance stuff lives.

I did consider it for about half a second. I have no idea how to remove a soft coral from a frag though. Figured I would do more harm than good as I tend to have a heavy hand if that makes sense. I was also afraid my corals would float away. I know I can glue them but I am not experienced enough to know where the optimal place for everything is yet. So the frag plugs are nice so that I can shove them in the rocks and then move them later if needed. I guess I could buy some new frag plugs and re-glue the corals as they come in.

So far one of my clowns is hosting the sand and another the back wall near the powerhead. Not as worried about it now that the fake nem has been going for going on 5 days. They seem fine, so whatever they host they will host I guess lol.

The new cabinet is here and it fits perfectly.

D'oh I still need to take it out of the box!

That's better.

It looked a little bit bigger in the pictures. I'm sure some of you fellas have heard that before!

Should be fine to hold the power strip, the ATO pump, and possibly some dosing pumps. Any suggestions on how to organize the stuff? Speak now or forever hold your peace.

Guess I can't blame them. Current params looking pretty good. Alk is a little lower but we'll see what happens this next week.
