SC Aquariums 50 gallon PNP

@Why-Me I've decided I'm going to put a knob on my cabinet. I finally baby proofed the cabinet and now it's hard to open because there isn't a good place to grab onto while I'm pulling it away. Thankfully the baby has always stayed away from the sump area but about time I got around to doing it. I'll try to match the other cabinets knob style.

Alright...I think I have a problem. It's only fitting that I was warded the addicted trophy just now lol.

This is my haul from the live sale today on R2R lol. Just a few corals and *cough* a men *cough*. :D

Couldn't help myself!

Here's pics of what I got. Also won a mystery frag by being the 100th post.

Nicee!

You bought a nem?

Any tips? feedback? Complaints? Etc?

Hopefully tips but I will take whatever comment you have for me :).

It is an emerald BTA. I know my tank is still pretty young but I feel like my parameters are pretty darn stable.

This is probably an over simplified page on anemone care but I feel like I got this.

I like that app.
I'm using aquarium note on android as well, been tracking/graphing my cycle as it goes through the stages.

A little late but yeah the app is great. Anytime I do something out of the ordinary I like to note down what I did.

I'm a sys admin and you don't know how many times good documentation has helped me trace back a weird issue to a Windows update, registry setting, etc. When it happens like weeks later there is no way I'm going to remember dates and times. Good at tracking livestock also. So far I'm only tracking the fish. Helped me track when we lost some fish in my son's freshwater tank. All one particular type of fish died of suspected columnaris. Even after treatment, but all the other fish seem to be unaffected and we have over 20 fry right now so not too bad.

Following along, and chuckling because I remember your earlier posts when you said you weren't that worried about keeping many corals :) Good stuff! My SCA 50 should be getting wet in early summer.

Haha yeah I have gone off the deep end! These animals are so interesting. Still a lot to learn but hoping I get to see some frags turn into colonies or gardens, etc. Be sure to tag me once you start the cycle. I'd love to have a look!

Ohhh man! So what are we going to do? Kalk or 2 part with a pinch of mg for good measure. Acclimating, & dipping, & gluing oh boy. You bought some poison though. If you cut those polyps off those frag plugs, keep the kids at distance, and don't eat any. Nice haul. You have come a ways from the fake orange nem that was falling apart.

Honestly probably 2 part. Still waiting for my alk to drop more than one DKH in a week.

I think after adding these frags I will get to the point where I need to dose.

Calcium is pretty stable so far. I had that one result of 369 but I think it's staying around 400. Hanna test is +-10 I believe as far as accuracy.

Which ones are toxic? You think I should reglue them? I was going to just dip them and throw them in the tank. After acclimating of course. If I need to reglue I will need to order some frag plugs asap.

I went ahead a moved over the power cables into the separate cabinet today. I plan to drill another hole under the shelf and move the ATO pump below the shelf, that way I can have water and power separated a bit. You can see some extra white tubing in the pics if you look hard enough.

I think he just means the zoas are toxic so if you remove them from the flag plugs, beware.

What salt are you using? I'd just use reef crystals/coral pro and you probably won't have to dose for awhile.

Using regular instant ocean at the moment. I went around and around researching salts. Where I ended up I forgot lol. Afraid of getting anything with too high Alk. If I need to do a large water change I want my salt to be close to my tank Alk. I think Instant Ocean Reef Crystals and Red Sea Coral Pro are too high Alk.

Thanks guys. I Did not know this about Zoa's. Good looking out! I'll look up more info on this now.

just keep the regular IO on hand then, do small water changes with the RC/CP, no dosing. ez! i have like 30+ corals and i don't have to dose.. yet. i did start a foray into the sps world so that probably won't last much longer, though..

did you decide on doing the kalkwasser? i kinda want to go that route, but my ato isn't kalk friendly and i don't want to have to replace the pump or clean the ato container all of the time
