Now to wait for the salt to dissolve

I'll be using Caribsea Live Sand for this tank as well

Gorgeous cabinet and tank! Are you worried at all about rain water hitting the electronics (powerhead, light and misc) given that the tank is outdoors on a balcony?

Thanks for the kind words!

No there are no worries for that as the electronics are all hidden inside the cabinet on the right side. Besides, my balcony is sheltered with a roof as I stay in an apartment, and it is not exposed to the direct elements as I have installed outdoor blinds as well. Will try to take a picture to show what I mean :)

Very clean setup and the tank placement is pretty incredible. Following along to see how it all comes together. [emoji1362]

New updates!

After mixing the water and adding the sand, it was time to put in the live rock that I had been cycling for about 8 weeks. Spent about 4-5 hours sticking the rock scape I liked using the Fauna Marin Aqua Scapefix. Would totally recommend this product compared to other types of epoxy and superglue gel I've used for the same job. What are your opinions? [emoji854]

I personally felt it worked so well with so little. After settling the scaping for a 4 feet tank I had only used about 15% of the bottle! [emoji38]

What are some of your favorite shops in SG? Always looking for new spots to visit

Hi are you from Singapore as well? I don't really have any favourites though... I visit all the shops whenever they have shipments! U never know when some gem of a coral pops up! [emoji38]

Thanks!! I'll strive to keep the updates coming! [emoji5]

please a full tank picture that cabinet is beautiful with the color and the grain of the wood. Who build the stand?

It was my own carpenter who did my home renovations [emoji4]

I'm in KL, but i find myself in SG more often these days

For this new tank, I'm going to try out a macroalgae reactor.. bought the Skimz MBR157 rated for up to 1000 litre aquariums. I must say the design is pretty sleek and cool. [emoji41]

Here's the set up and the seeding of Chaeto which I will be using. It will run on a reverse photoperiod to my tank. [emoji5]

My chiller and electrical wiring are in the compartment on the right side of the cabinet.

I will be hooking up a dosing pump soon to replace the big 3 elements as my tank is quite heavily stocked w Sps. It will be situated right above the chiller where I had designed a slot for it. [emoji5]

My controllers are kept nicely on the right hand side of the cabinet. I used a black translucent glass for the controller box so I could see if my controllers were working [emoji28]

I can watch television and peek at my tank too at the same time... so the tank is a bad distraction

Here's a picture from my living room where I'm seated at.. [emoji854]

Just to share, one of the fellow singaporean reefers here told me about his experience on keeping chillers inside the cabinet. The main issue here is heat which can be very intense inside an enclosed space.

Although I had designed the doors to have ventilation slits at the front door and at the top rear of the cabinet to allow for venting of cold air (entering from front) and warm air (exiting from top rear of the cabinet), I also realised that it was very hot whenever the chiller kicked in.

I therefore went to the mall to get DIY fan units to install at the vent on the top rear of the cabinet to allow for active air flow through the venting suction of the fans.

Here are some pictures.

I had to join the individual fans together to form a row of them

They were then attached to the ventilation lid and installed at the rear.

That said, although it helps draw out hot air when the chiller is running, the chiller will still do better with the doors at the front fully open or if it was placed in an open area altogether.

The price to pay for wanting neatness and everything concealed within the tank. [emoji854] I try to keep my chiller door open most times, so this might be a design flaw some reefers would want to take note of.

Just sharing [emoji846]

Great build! Following!! Let's get some more pics
