Sirius' Rimless Shallow Mixed Reef (Singapore)

Had an old time reefer friend visit me today. It was great catching up with him and finding out more about this great hobby.

The best part of it was that he brought these stickers for me knowing that I wanted them! I'm so lucky to have cool friends! [emoji41][emoji41][emoji5]

New updates:

Bought a dosing pump to deal with replenishment of the big three elements a few weeks ago, but didn't have the time to hook it up to use till now. Partly, it was because I had challenges finding a suitable dosing container for the dosing.

After going around several places to find a container that would fit my requirements and with the highest available capacity, I finally got this from lifestyle store Muji. It looks really sleek and I love it.

Got my local lfs to help me with drilling a hole in the middle of the cover to modify and have this adapter and acrylic tube to be in the container. I really like how it looks. [emoji7]

This dosing pump will be controlled via wifi on the smartphone. I also like how its signature will be so small compared to the previous model. [emoji4]
Looking great. Love the containers!
Just one advice... If the container close hermetically, it is best to have a small breather hole to let air in to replace the dosed amount. You can easily use a one-way valve as we use in our airpump lines.
I would love the see how you will place these in the stand.

Hi there it was made locally in Singapore :)
So in each hole you will spin a wire from one side to the other?
How big will be the gap between wires?
I like the design very clean

Yes Janci i actually used a monofilament fishing line and threaded them through from one side to the other. The gap for each hole was 10mm. Thanks for the compliment! I actually am quite an idiot on such matters, it was a fellow reefer who aided me in getting this cover done... :)

man your tank went from zero to hero with light speed quickness! nice job!

Hahaha i'm still aspiring to have this tank mature with amazing colours especially on the SPS. There are so many reefers with tanks i can only drool over.

Actually to be honest, my tank build thread was not updated in real time. I had posted them as such to document the journey of the tank from start, and 80% of my corals were transferred over from a previous build. I went to do some stocking of mainly SPS after i got this tank up. It would have been impossible to get that many corals in lightning speed as you know..... lol. But thanks!

@markstubb Where are you from anyway? :)

I like all of the scoly's. I have this ridiculous gold head sleeper goby in my tank that freaking covers all of my sand dwelling corals so until I can figure out how to get him out, I have to quit on the sand stuff for now. I'm originally from Atlanta in the US, living in KL for now on an expat thing. Might be moving to SG soon :-)

Oh thats nice! Ring me up if you do move to SG and i'll be happy to show you around the favourite LFSs here in SG to get you started!

Oh i have some personal favourites too! Especially the tri-coloured ones that have the yellow streaks! I'll try to get some close up shots of the individual scolys soon!

Wow, your tank is amazing. I love this build. You can really see how well planned and thought about on the whole build is. Beautiful setup!

what a great progress. Love that Ricordia garden and those acans. Your tank looks amazing...

Spent a whole day transferring my corals from my 2 feet to this new tank.

Here's a sneak of what's going over to the upgraded home [emoji7]

For this new tank, I'm going to try out a macroalgae reactor.. bought the Skimz MBR157 rated for up to 1000 litre aquariums. I must say the design is pretty sleek and cool. [emoji41]

Here's the set up and the seeding of Chaeto which I will be using. It will run on a reverse photoperiod to my tank. [emoji5]
