Still no reply from Tulio

@Randy Holmes-Farley with a tds of zero coming from my rodi unit and no real metals in my icp report can I still have problems with my water? Source or tank water? And if so how would I test for them?

Yes, some trace elements could be too low, or even high, but that's not likely the problem.

Could be organic toxins, or biological problems such as pathogenic bacteria or virus issues. I don't think there's any way a hobbyist can diagnose a pathogen issue if you do not see them, except perhaps by ruling everything else out.

Well I put a new filter in and made some water hopefully after my next couple water changes everything turns around I mean this stinks I have no idea what’s going on

If I sent in a water test of my water from Home Depot would they be able to tell any problems

Home Depot? You mean analyze your tap water?

When you checked all your magnets, you included the wetside of your Vortechs, right?

Do you guys not have a local water authority that handles that?

The only thing I can find online is school district water and that varies from classroom to classroom and school to school

No I mean like we can bring our water to our local Ag extension office in our county and they send it off to the UGA lab and have the samples tests and results emailed back. Most every county should have the same.

Really? I have to look into this thank u

Be careful about the Home Depot water test. I did that. It was that "test your water for free" display they had. They called after a while and said they wanted to send someone over to further test our water because it was flagged as being very bad. Ended up sitting through a 3 hour sales pitch where they were trying to sell us a $5,000 home water system. Total bait and switch.

That would make sense bothingbin life is free

Side note Tulio got in touch with me yesterday and I will go into what happened in a bit but I have some work to do right now

So here’s the light story

First I want to say my problem may not be my Lights I mean yes it stinks I have been thru so many bulbs but it may not be the problem what so ever.

Me and someone were pm ing back and forth about my fixtures and while he was as mad as I should be about the way it was being treated I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt and believe that they will do the right thing in time.

I’m sure Tulio is a busy man and he runs a business where I’m sure people try to get the best of him all the time. I am no one special I mean I think I am but I’m just a hobbyist. And while I would love to think Tulio knows who I am because we have talked a bunch of times the reality is he prolly doesn’t he talks to a bunch of people everyday and like I said I’m no one special.

My lights have been acting up since I wanna say last weekend and I didn’t call him until Thursday. I’m a busy guy I have to work. Granted he said he would call me back in a couple of hours and I was kinda P.O. that he didn’t but that’s life like I said he could have had something going on that trumped me.

I said I sent out an email on Friday I think In this thread to him asking why he didn’t call me back well although I did send the email out it didn’t go thru I closed out the program before it sent so he didn’t get the email until I logged back in on Saturday.

Yesterday Tulio called me and sent a text as I was nowhere near my phone and when I saw he texted me it was in my mind to late to call him back. So When I awoke this morning I called him he told me to bring both fixtures and ballast to their headquarters in New Jersey 30 mins away from my house and they were going to give me two brand new fixtures and ballast so I could get my tank up and running again.
Some people will say well that’s what he should do but in all honesty I’m grateful for this as he doesn’t know who I am and I could be lying I mean I’m not but I could be.

So it took me about two hours to undo my wiring (I did a nice job I must say but man it’s not easy to get stuff out) now I have not ran my lights for over a week so to my surprise when I plugged them into the wall when both lit up I was amazed truly amazed as they didn’t work but after about five mins one bulb went out and the other started this high pitch sound. Exactly what happened while they were over the tank.

I called Tulio again to let him know that the lights will fire up but after five mins that the bulbs will start acting up and that if he just wants me to bring in the bulbs I can do that. His reply was that he wants me to have new fixtures as there is obviously a problem with the ones I have.

When i arrived at reefbrites ware house they were so nice to me my new fixtures were ready to go and answered every question I had.

In all honesty I prolly would not have been able to do anything with my lights until today anyway as it’s my first day off in two weeks. I’m thoroughly happy with the end result and hopefully these new fixtures work well for me.

Thanks Tulio

Also thank u bulk reefsupply I ordered 14 k de fixtures last week sometime and Tulio switched me out to his single ended twin arc bulbs so I can no longer use them I called brs up and they told me I can return the bulbs with no problems.

All in all a good day now I have to set up the new lights and put light above my Corals
