I have a separate tank ready for them and do not dip until they have healed a bit. Sometimes, this is a few months. In their own tank, I can wait. Then, I use Bayer since it is so gentle even on the deepwaters. Most of the time, I can get the acro crabs out of a weak first dip and they survive if I am fast. I have always felt that a dip after coming all that way in a box is no bueno, but I guess that you have no choice if they are going into an integrated system. I also found that they do best under very strong MH for a while... after all, they were under the sun a few days ago.
I have never gotten much to come off of wild stuff. Mari, on the other hand, is full of nasty worms, spiders and all kinds of stuff... good thing that I am not into Mari stuff.
