@Humblefish @melypr1985 The female BA I also have in QT developed a large discoloration on her side. Yesterday is appeared white... Almost like the scales were raised and today it's darker (Like the beginning of a scab). I suspect it's an injury. I completed 2 rounds of Prazipro, they been in metro for almost 3 weeks, I started adding copper last Friday (8 drops of Coppermine every 12 hours in 20G) and its at or almost at the effective range. (These test kits are hard to read). Other than keeping H2O clean any other thoughts or suggestions?

I have penicillin on hand. I can hit a LFS tonight if you recommend the others.
IME; Penicillin can be a bit harsh on SW fish. Best to try to locate Kanaplex or Furan-2. But use the penicillin if you have no other choice.

Hi both... The infection spread rapidly last night (she ate this morning). It spread across her body, underside and has started up the other-side. I ended up going with PCN as I could not get away when it started (I have a 3 & 4 yo). She is also in Cu.

On another note. When I brought up the Cu my M Wrasse responded poorly. She is now doing bad. I pulled her out of Cu and put her in a non-medicated 5G bucket (w/ heat and air stone). She has not eaten in 2 days and looks really bad this morning. Can no longer hold herself upright?

In your position I would be trying to get kanaplex and furan2..... That anthia looks pretty bad at this point. I'd throw some metroplex into the mix and hit that infection with everything I have -- meaning all three medications, kanaplex, furan2, and metroplex

I've never used it so I dont know if you should keep dosing until you get the others, but that's what I'd do anyway. I'd just try to get the other meds today so I didn't have to dose the PCN again.

Ok.. I'm heading to the (not local) fish store... LFS doesn't have furane2. It sounds like nothing can be done for the wrasse. Should I have done anything else initially? Or are they goners once they react poorly to Cu.

I've seen plenty of fish recover from it. Taking them out of the copper is the best medicine for it. you could try a methyline blue dip, but really I think just removal from the offending chemical is key along with spotting it early and getting them out quickly.
The wrasse may have the infection as well. One problem with penicillin is it is only effective against gram positive bacteria. The "infection spread rapidly" sounds more like a gram negative strain to me. Gram negative bacteria have a lipopolysaccharide and protein layer that surrounds the peptidoglygan layer of the cell wall, preventing penicillin from attacking. So, you are going to need to use an antibiotic capable of killing gram negative bacteria like one of the two @melypr1985 suggested.

It sounds like you have your hands full with sick fish. Sorry for your troubles. Question to @Humblefish and @melypr1985 , is the use s common. I think in the last 5 years I have had a very small amount 5-6 sick fish out of 100's I have purchased. Can it be the collection zones or am I missing something
Right now Marine Velvet Disease is running rampant thru the US west coast wholesalers. And of course, a fish with a preexisting parasitic infestation has a greater chance of developing a secondary bacterial infection. I'm not sure which wholesalers are commonly used up in BC.

No matter where the fish are collected, they all end up mixed together at several stages of their transport to the states. That's how diseases spread so widely and why QT is so important. Infections can be caught by any fish... the ones with the strongest immune systems are usually able to fight them off on their own, the ones that are already sick have a much harder time doing that without help.

The wrasse was gone by the time I got home. I'm hitting the BM with the prescribed cocktail since early afternoon. Fingers crossed. The male is being extremely protective of her. Weird seeing such yellow water (from the furan2). I also picked up neoplex to round out the medicine cabinet. (A list of recommended meds to be ke(would this help to add now?)
(Which meds should be kept on hand when trying to QT a lot of fish would be a good decision topic.)
