Here is one from the cheerleader ;) I will try to go through R2R and tag people who have their frags to see what they look like now.

Overall, This is one of my favorite pieces in my tank (will attempt to take a better shot today). I would have to say my ORA Tricolor is probably the best by far. Yes, even more that the RR orange passion.

Oh and when I purchased my WD, I've never seen the original picture from Mike. I purchased my frag based on what it is. Not saying it looks like it 100% but its still a very nice looking piece.

Here is the mama.

These are very nice!!

People aren't realizing that a lot of the colour is THE POLYPS. These pictures (for instance Diesels) that aren't accurate to the original colour have bad PE. You cans ee in Diesels pic that it has bright yellow polyps but they're not out. Yes there's more than just the polyps that's where a lot of the appeal comes from.

We all already know Diesels tank obviously sucks, his WD color doesn't match Aquanuts, you don't have to rub it in that his PE sucks too! LOL :p I think the PE issue may have something to do with the sea monster sitting on the frag though, just a guess !

It's all worth what one will pay. So far, it's still worth a lot. We should always ask for the most we can, that's capitalism, and makes the world go around.

In the end, the money makes it back into the economy, so we all win.

So does yours look like the picture? Somewhat purple?

My frag is smaller than yours but has its colors...

With enough blue light yes, can't lie about that and I won't but I won't bash either as it was me who bought it. Also not saying it's a scam as if this coral sold for $40 a one inch frag nobody gives a rats and this thread wasn't happening.
I just hate the rubbing in.

I know for a fact PE has nothing to do with it.
My corals have plenty PE during night and day time, what makes a SPS with lots of PE during the day a better than without? All my other SPS grow like crazy.
Maybe I should get rid of the heavy traffic in front of my tank as when I'm home ppl walk in all the time, if you send me a text and I'm home during the weekend your welcome and the Vodka that other ppl dose we can drink in front of the Diesel tank and discuss why it is or not is to have lots of PE o_O

Aquanaut is Biggar. We've seen those pics, that the most beaten horse in the hobby.

It's obviously a nice piece. With that said, I've bought a lot of nice pieces that obviously use some trickery in the photos. Im not new, it's easy to see when someone uses a ton of blue LEDs to make a coral look way better then it will in my tank. Anyone go to MACNA? The whole building glows inside, haha. I do agree that frags rarely look as good as a colony, color wise but...... My point is, there's nothing wrong with buying these pieces as long as you can't judge for yourself how nice the coral is actually gonna look when it gets to you and not expect it to always look like the pic with the over exposed blue egg crate. Is this particular one worth $700? Depends on the buyer I guess, I wouldn't call it a scam cause it's up to you to send the payment but false advertising.......

I'll come by with some scotch.

Yep I know Mike is Aquanaut. :)

Thanks for your response! I agree, if people are willing to buy it - then so be it. I wouldn't call it a scam either as its a really nice collectors piece.

There are a ton of vendors on here using coloration techniques and I am glad Adam is shedding light on this issue.

People have been shedding light on these techniques for a long time now, and unfortunately, as the ability to create things digitally becomes more accessible to the general public, you will see more and more of this. (facebook ebay etc)

I've seen the walt disney, and many countless other tenuis acros in my time. All you need is an orange pair of glasses and there you have it. WALT DISNEY!

Is it a nice tenuis? Yes. Is it $600 nice for a tiny frag? Well if the buyer is happy then so be it. If the buyer is just looking to get it with the intent to brag/resell, then it is what it is.

100's of colonies?

When I was trying to buy this coral from the originator I was told ten times it only looks like this in blue lighting.

Most of his frags nowadays are sold on auctions. Price start at 1 dollar. So people decide what they want to pay.

I know this piece doesn't color up like the pics but so does most of my overhyped overpaid sps corals.

Nothing new here . We all expect it will look like that one day like the rest of my sps frags.

Also I don't know why this piece was singled out when we have a list of sps that didn't color up to their name.

Just seems like an agenda towards the seller.

In this hobby there are some vendors that sell proven pieces that will hold their color and look like their mother colony from day one.

These are your everyday frags like green slimer, SSC.

Then we all know there are vendors that show you that amazing pic and send you a frag that looks totally different.

Alot of buyers buy from both vendors. But it's foolish to think that anyone who bought this WD frag thought that it will look like the mother colony from day one.

Let's ask this question. Did anyone who bought a frag of WD tenuis thought there were getting a frag that looked like the mother colony ?

If the answer is No , then no one was scammed ,lied or cheated.

^^^ I paid 600 shipped because I didn't want to bid on auction.

Otherwise it's on auction on facebook. Starting bid is 1 dollar.

Lowest I have seen it sold for was 450

I am a little surprised there are not more grow out threads showing pics of this guy. Who knows, I have never seen one in person. The corals I do love buying, are the ones that looked pretty good in pics, but not spectacular, and then when they grow out in your tank, you are amazed how awesome they become. I got a yellow topaz acro from RMF, I think it might originally have come from golden basket. The thing is ridiculous. Same with gender predictor from reef pets. Those unexpected ones are the best.

Okay I have to ask this question.

Walt disney acro. We get it amazing colors lota hype.

Let me ask why hasnt the coral kings newly released acro gotten nearly the same hype?

To me this TCK acro looks 10X BETTER than the walt disney. Yet hes not charging 600$ an inch.

Why is the walt disney still even a hot topic when this new acro is looking so beastly?!
