Here is one from the cheerleaderI will try to go through R2R and tag people who have their frags to see what they look like now.
Overall, This is one of my favorite pieces in my tank (will attempt to take a better shot today). I would have to say my ORA Tricolor is probably the best by far. Yes, even more that the RR orange passion.
Oh and when I purchased my WD, I've never seen the original picture from Mike. I purchased my frag based on what it is. Not saying it looks like it 100% but its still a very nice looking piece.
Here is the mama.

People aren't realizing that a lot of the colour is THE POLYPS. These pictures (for instance Diesels) that aren't accurate to the original colour have bad PE. You cans ee in Diesels pic that it has bright yellow polyps but they're not out. Yes there's more than just the polyps that's where a lot of the appeal comes from.
I think the PE issue may have something to do with the sea monster sitting on the frag though, just a guess !So does yours look like the picture? Somewhat purple?
My frag is smaller than yours but has its colors...
We all already know Diesels tank obviously sucks, his WD color doesn't match Aquanuts, you don't have to rub it in that his PE sucks too! LOLI think the PE issue may have something to do with the sea monster sitting on the frag though, just a guess !

I know for a fact PE has nothing to do with it.
My corals have plenty PE during night and day time, what makes a SPS with lots of PE during the day a better than without? All my other SPS grow like crazy.
Maybe I should get rid of the heavy traffic in front of my tank as when I'm home ppl walk in all the time, if you send me a text and I'm home during the weekend your welcome and the Vodka that other ppl dose we can drink in front of the Diesel tank and discuss why it is or not is to have lots of PE![]()
Aquanaut is Biggar. We've seen those pics, that the most beaten horse in the hobby.
It's obviously a nice piece. With that said, I've bought a lot of nice pieces that obviously use some trickery in the photos. Im not new, it's easy to see when someone uses a ton of blue LEDs to make a coral look way better then it will in my tank. Anyone go to MACNA? The whole building glows inside, haha. I do agree that frags rarely look as good as a colony, color wise but...... My point is, there's nothing wrong with buying these pieces as long as you can't judge for yourself how nice the coral is actually gonna look when it gets to you and not expect it to always look like the pic with the over exposed blue egg crate. Is this particular one worth $700? Depends on the buyer I guess, I wouldn't call it a scam cause it's up to you to send the payment but false advertising.......

People have been shedding light on these techniques for a long time now, and unfortunately, as the ability to create things digitally becomes more accessible to the general public, you will see more and more of this. (facebook ebay etc)Yep I know Mike is Aquanaut.
Thanks for your response! I agree, if people are willing to buy it - then so be it. I wouldn't call it a scam either as its a really nice collectors piece.
There are a ton of vendors on here using coloration techniques and I am glad Adam is shedding light on this issue.
