Tomini tang spot?

It's probably the start of a bacterial infection or an injury.

Bristle tooth tangs are rather hard to diagnose sometimes.

I would give the fish a 90 minute bath in Ruby Reef Rally as a preventative measure and keep a close eye on it.

If it becomes red/white or begins to look like an open sore then you may need to move to a QT and medicate.
Hi not OP here but an extremely similar situation. I'll try and post pictures if need be. So I have already had a Tomini Tang in QT 5 days with therapeutic levels of cupramine. After seeming fine the past couple days and what looked like ich to be dropping off as I can't really see any more white salty spots on him. I came down this morning and he's got white splotches on the sides... Everything I see it seems like it be an infection. Would doing a freshwater dip be to much? Or what? Sorry for the wall of text.

This. In the photos I already feel it necessary to use antibiotics. I’d use metroplex, furan 2, and kanaplex in QT for 10-14 days.
What if I'm 4-5 days in to a cupramine treatmine in QT already???!? I'm not stoked about what's going on.

I’d do them together. Ensure you have an air stone and power head aimed up for maximum oxygen. Be prepared for possible bacterial blooms, large water changes and redosing, etc:

It’s no fun, I’ve been there many many times :(

Ok thanks guys at work right now and my wife said he can’t even swim now so it’s not looking good right now she’s trying to set up the qt tank with the medication we got it in the mail he’s really black now she says and he’s just laying at the bottom of the tank now
Him appearing black is very concerning, does it look like he has tiny spots all over him or like he's covered in dust? @ngoodermuth @HotRocks @4FordFamily @Big G

It’s not tiny dots it was black splotches last night it was near his mouth and eyes and a couple big spots on one of his sides I’ll be home in about 30-45 minutes so I’ll find out but she says he’s hiding right now so she can’t see if he’s still alive but I’ll be shocked if he still is honestly. Makes you wonder if he got infected at the lfs I got it from because the other fish and corals I have in the tank look great

I hope he's doing alright. With how quickly he has gone downhill and the symptoms you are describing I am concerned about the possibility of a more serious disease that could put your other fish in danger as well. Even if he didn't make it please take pictures and describe, in detail, how he looks

Yeah it’s weird how fast it was. Wednesday I noticed it I treated him with the first stuff you told me to use then yesterday he stopped using one fin but was still swimming and eating then this morning while I was gone he wouldn’t swim and just kinda laying down and hiding

When you can get the pics go ahead and start a new thread so you can get all the right advice and nobody gets confused about which fish we're talking about :)

He’s darker than he was before and it definitely looks like something happened to him under him because it was not like that yesterday

Yes please do thanks again for everyone’s help now hopefully we can find what caused this or if it was maybe sick from the lfs and just coincidence that it got a lot worse once I got it

I’m thinking the couple hermits I have in the tank we’re eating it and that’s what caused the flesh to be exposed on the bottom of him

Ive been watching my tank for the past 20 mins or so and my clownfish are acting strange very jittery and rubbing there bodies against the glass should I be concerned about this?

I want to get some opinions from the experts I tagged above before suggesting any other treatments. I don't want to cause any panic but I realize that I've already opened the door, I'm concerned about the possibility of velvet. Clownfish do swim erratically as a normal part of their behavior so it may or may not be cause for concern. Read this and see if anything sounds similar to the symptoms you saw
