Trident vs Alkatronic vs KH Director vs kh guardian

It gonna be like 80 bucks for the diy kit. I don’t think it will be much more complex than any other tiny perk pump. That said, I don’t think I want to do it and am happy to pay them to do it for me. Price seems fair to me.

Btw you never answered me on this one? Is the 80$ announced and the firm stand of the company or this is your speculation/insider infos??

I have not seen firm prices on any of that yet, but that was the ballpark I was hearing. I could be wrong about everything!

Yeh one of the issues people are having is the flow of information. Not everything is clear yet...time will tell

I'm a little late to the party here, and admittedly stopped reading on page 6. But, I read no talk of the reef kinetics reef bot? It's been out a while now and from the things I've read customer service is great, it's easy to repair and tests the big 3 plus no3 and po4. They're currently working on a dosing setup for it and probes for pH and temp. It's a bit pricey at 900$ but readily available with great customer service seems like it should be a contender for sure.

Im looking forward to meeting the people that run it at macna this year in Orlando and seeing it in action.

Not for something lile ca alk and mag... home kits are good and accurate if they are new or well maintained.
For alk I would trust the alktronic since you have a history of accuracy with it.

Oh yeah definitely trusting the Alkatronic for dKH. Trident magnesium is correct right now, but calcium isn't. Will have to do until next calibration.

running trident and kh guardian at same time. KH guardian definitely took a few days to dial in and achieve maximal precision. It did not come from coralvue configured for precision, the stirbar was undersized and the peristaltic pump needed to remove some of the rollers. pH probes that come with unit are not the best, upgraded right away. Once it is dialed in, it is very precise and the biggest advantage is that homebrew of reagents is simple. This machine is just an automated pH titration device and the reagent is just acid. Trident is cool but reagents are not able to be homebrewed. I have found the dos pump to be highly unreliable and trident has caught the Calcium swing that led me to discover that dos pump B goes into an unresponsive state where it does not turn. Power cycle of dos fixes the problem. BRS peristaltic pumps are much more reliable.

I spoke to the owner/creator at RAP. They had a Show Special of $750. Just FYI for those going to a show and want this unit.

This is why has confused me about people unhappy about sending the unit in for servicing or having to service it themselves. All peri pumps need service.

Some things just need service be it a torque wrench or a pump. You don't want your cars tires flying off or an engine of a plane flying over head just like you want to make sure when you are in the hospital you are getting the correct dose of your med. Things need to be serviced, inspected, and of course replaced. Be it a pump or a probe.

Sending out some love to BRS - I'm still here listening to Call Me Maybe.... Maybe today is my day on the waiting list. We shall see.

+1 the khg upgrades that happened over the last year or so made the unit solid.

Whelp, think this may be confirming that dKH/calcium/magnesium on my tank really isn't a problem at all. Running a Geo calcium reactor supplemented by the Alkatronic and kalk.

Guess I might be moving it to the frag tank sooner than I thought (but first gotta get another EB832 ;Rage).

Am confused. Are you saying your parameters were indeed swinging or you saying trident is giving wrong measurments results?
Or you saying your reactor is doing something funky messing with your parameters so you moving it to your frag tank?

Oh no just saying that with a calcium reactor that calcium/magnesium really aren't much of a concern. Heck I think I bought the Trident for the sport of it more than actually needing it. I know right ;Shamefullyembarrased

Ha ha ha. Agreed. It all go back to the philosophy that alk is what should be maintained and all will follow. Extra kudos for you trying diffrent things and benefiting everyone with data and knowledge which is much needed in this hobby with all the noise out there.
Since you are on a shopping spree. May I interst you in buying a dastaco so I have a dastaco buddy ha ha ha.
Btw I have extra khg (one that have all the upgrades) I been contemplating sending it to you to add to your setup..if you intersted PM me. We might do some cross work if you like. I experiment alot and now am experimenting with dastaco im ULNS controlled by the ghl, to collect some data on the sps growth..(correlating po4 levels to base growth vs vertical growth in acros) not much time I have to run diffrent testers yet..so if you up to it am willing to have some fun with you.

Definitely right now for my situation the Alkatronic. Closer measurements to my Hanna and I can measure as much as I want to with limited expense.

Trident measurements are consistent but not right based on multiple measurements. But sure someone will ask what’s right?

I know my dKH is right with multiple test sources. Only one different is the Trident. Nothing catastrophic but not the same.
