Tswifty's 40g Rimless

I need to get a tang....some nuissance algea is getting out of control in my tank, and it's taken root on the rocks, so trimming it isn't doing anything but disseminating it all through the tank.
I hear ya. I don't think I'll ever run a tank without a tang for that reason. They're simply the best 100% reef safe algae eater out there. The little guy is going nuts on the rocks, but he's got quite the task ahead of him. Hopefully between the tang and Vodka/Bacteria dosing I'll be able to get this algae under control.
wow you tank is amazing!!! i love the bird of paradise coral. picassos look great, i have one, after three months its has a lot of black coloration on the shoulders and around the white rim
Thank you. The Bird's of Paradise was a coral that I was VERY unhappy with in the beginning since the coloration just wasn't there for me. However, after upgrading my lighting a bit it's made a nice turn around, and is now one of my favorite pieces. It grows extremely fast as well (which is a good thing, because I break it everytime I clean the tank). LOL

As far as the Picasso's go, I'm not sure if I ever updated the thread. I found the larger one on the floor a few weeks ago after I got back from the gym. I have no idea what caused it to jump after 5 months of being content, but I was extremely upset.
Thanks for the explanation. I could not see the food so I was wondering what else lured him in there!
LOL... yeah, he's probably got no idea what happened, and has been bouncing off the walls in the QT tank downstairs. Oh well... he's headed to one of Sean's tanks soon, so he'll have a lot more room to roam around.
TJ, The tang looks nice. Is it earning it's keep yet? lol
Thanks. I admire his spirit, but I think it's going to take quite some time before he makes a noticeable dent.

Didn't know clowns to be jumpers...was it before or after you got rid of his anenome...maybe it was a protest?

super sweet tank...Im thinking about going Hofer Gurgle on my 40 cube..(I have 3 overflows too). How is the noise?

Beats me... I've had personal experience with a few jumping in previous tanks. One time I removed an extremely aggressive pair, then placed them in QT until I could give them away. The QT tank was in my bedroom, and all night I heard them "pinging" off the eggcrate cover I placed on the tank.

Who knows... maybe they just don't like me. LOL

Anyway, I caught the remaining one tonight when he was in his corner after lights out. He's headed to Cleveland with me tomorrow, and will be relocated into a nice Elos system where there is another lone Grade A Picasso waiting for him.

Thanks.

If you have 3 holes in your overflow I would look into BeanAnimal's Silent and Failsafe Overflow system. It's hands down the best system out there IMO. I really regret going with the gurgle busters on my system... I actually hope to take a weekend sometime soon and redo all the plumbing. Definitely not looking forward to it though. :(

Finally was able to snap a nice picture of my new Eibli Mimic Tang

Also, I picked up a few corals in trade the other day. The ORA Pearlberry, ORA Chip's Acropora, and ORA Roscoe's Blue Acropora

Here's a picture of the Pearlberry

Thanks. :)

Some friends supplied me with a few harder to find pieces this weekend.

- Montipora Setosa
- Rommel's Rainbow Acropora
- Tyree Bali Tri-Color

Pretty soon I'm going to have to start swapping corals in and out, because there is hardly any room left in the tank.

:bigsmile:Tswifty, The pearlberry looks real nice did it come from Ray? send a pic of the Roscoea if you can I have both pieces reserved at the swap! chefzif, zoos opening and look good!

LOL... I wish!
Very nice tank, I like how clean looking is.
Thank you. :)

Glad to hear they are already opening for you. Yeah the Pearlberry came from Ray. The Roscoe's pic wouldn't be a good representation though. It came from the bottom of the colony, as the a good portion of the top was reserved for the frag swap. Plus I don't mind waiting a few weeks for it to fully color up. All the frags are healthy and have nice PE already. I have quite a few corals in my tank from Ray, and have never been disappointed.

do you have a pic of the bali tri color? i picked one up a couple weeks ago and its finally coloring up.

Here are a few "noticeable" improvements since I began bacteria dosing. Thus far I have only been dosing Brightwell Aquatic's Microbacter 7 and Kent Marine Lugol's Solution. I plan on starting Vodka dosing tomorrow.

My ORA Marshall's Island Blue Bottlebrush which I had written off for dead. Polyp Extension has returned, and color is beginning to come back.
