I’ve never used it, and never wanted too, because the whole “we don’t know exactly what it is” from every reviewer I ever read:watched, thing never jived with me.

For every reefer who’s using/used vibrant though, I imagine there’s one who decided against it as well. I’m not the only one lol.

Exactly, I haven't come across an issue yet that can't be fixed with some time+elbow grease. We hobbyists say "nothing good happens fast in a reef tank" but then turn around and dump a $50 bottle of whatevertheheck into their tank because they spotted a patch of bryopsis ;Facepalm

Furthermore, even if it does work, the data shows that the ingredients match a similar product on the market that is sold at half the price. So you're paying double for something that already exists while being lied to about it. I'm not sure why/how anyone would be okay with that.

Just about everything I buy has a state of California warning. It kinda loses its impact. Not saying I’d use or consume vibrant but the California thing is a bit of a joke.

Furthermore, even if it does work, the data shows that the ingredients match a similar product on the market that is sold at half the price. So you're paying double for something that already exists while being lied to about it. I'm not sure why/how anyone would be okay with that.

Maybe those people have never had situations of broken trust.

My take on this whole thing is that I have spent ungodly amounts of money on this hobby and being lied to about what a product is, to me, feels like a huge breach of trust and might possibly cause the loss of a huge monetary investment.

That was an interesting topic.
It is pretty important to be honest with consumers, specially reefers that keep very sensible organisms.

My organisms are not sensible in the least or they wouldn’t be in my tank!

Not just that. They've just published another video about skipping the ugly phase after the cycle... This time there's no vibrant on the table.

I noticed they had some weird picture cuts that were not as fluid as the rest of the video. Depending how long ago they made this video I am willing to bet they had to edit vibrant out of it. That was the go to up to 3 weeks ago and I bet it was made a month or two ago.

If you want to get rid of that algae, then yes...it will work. Period. If you want proof that it works....here. Here is a video by BRS themselves, showing that it certainly does work, Even they admit at the beginning of the video that they don't know exactly the ingredients are but if you are wanting to get rid of algae, it will work. And if it killed livestock and/or coral...do you really think it would still be on the market and be selling as good as it does?

Would you use it in your display if you had 10 year old acropor colonies?

It does not appear to be what UWC claims. Data clearly suggest it is an algaecide identical to Algaefix (see thread below)

IMO, this as a very serious breach of trust from a company that has insisted it is not an algaecide. It is also a clear breach of the Reef2Reef terms of service (about making misleading statements).

UWC refuses to respond to these allegations despite having been asked to do so.

VERY DISSAPOINTING ! I've used the product multiple times. to top it all off not only did they lie about it being a bacteria/ carbon source style recipe, I would consider what they charged for the 16oz top dollar .

Well brs refunded me for my bottle of vibrant. I can't really be mad at them, I feel like they got duped just like us. I'm curious to see what happens to all the videos they have up pushing vibrant...

Now here's the awkward question... lol. What bacteria DO I buy? Like, I'm planning to start a couple new tanks and was planning to use Dr. Tim's stuff.... should I just assume all bottled bacteria without a list of ingredients are suspicious now?

It depends on what you are trying to accomplish. You don't have to buy anything. If you want to cycle a tank then you can of course use Dr. Tim's One and Only for example if you want a fishless cycle. You can also not buy it and do a fishless cycle by tossing in a piece of shrimp and let mother nature take its course. I've used both methods.

In fact no one has to buy any chemicals and the sooner we, as hobbyists, stop with the chemical euphoria we will all be better off. There are some useful tools to help us but a bottle shouldn't be our first choice is all I am saying.

I had bubble algae ( valonia ) in my tank and I used vibrant for one month. My tank now is completely bubble algae free.

How vibrant works is really a mystery for me
