Okay, so you did use the refresh. Didn't see that you actually used it in conjunction with the waste away. Only thing that suck about the refresh is that it says it can be harmful to snails and inverts. Plus on their website they don't really hint that they should be used together. Just don't like the invert thing.

Yes carbon has to be offline with this treatment

It may work for you, it may not but when we have Dino and we are watching our corals and snail die away, we will give anything a try right?We all know how many different strands of Dino there are but I have been real successful with this process. Also I have tryed H2O2 dosing with no success in that treatment.

Here is the process that I have used to get rid of Dino in 2 different tanks, also my LFS had it in there display tanks (full sps) and used this process as well with the same results, NO MORE DINO! Never has come back either! Here we go:

Black out for 3 days, I'm mean no light at all, do not feed your fish either, they will be ok.
Day 1: dose Dr. Tim's waste away (recommended dose on the bottle)
Day 2: dose Dr. Tim's waste away (recommended dose on the bottle)
Day 3: dose Dr. Tim's re-fresh
( recommended dose on the bottle)
Day 4: uncover, clean protein skimmer and all filtration. Return to normal light schedule.

This process worked for me with great results, I hope it will help and work for you!

Ok..acquired all items and getting ready to do this as i type. So it is 7:30pm now..i take it day 2 doesnt start until 7:30 tomorrow? And 3rd and 4th?
Also when you mean clean all filtration, replace socks, clean sponges, add carbon?...see how this thing works out for me.

I have used dr.tims waste away before in the worst cyano case that you can ever imagin ( i have posted some pics in his forum) and i can attest that it does work. I had my tank completely cleared at day 5.

However, this thing is potent and it deplete your water of oxygen. You need to have a way to insure good o2 level. I lost a fish while using it.

Second thig is i bleached couple of acros as the water became super clear.

But after a while the cyano came back as i was feeding crazy amounts.

3: i want nothing else to change in my system except the handling of dinos. i know uv and peroxide keeps my tank running business as usual. so i have a baseline of effectiveness.
4: waste away is in the spotlight here. nothing more. no other change.

i have a 300 volume tank. i dosed 250ml of waste away yesterday.
i read about losses due to oxygen deprivation as well. i have gas exchange out the yin yang with my diamond dolphin amp master 6250 alone.

ph didnt drop much (another read side effect of waste away)... 8.4 to 8.2

update:
dinos are trying to claw back as usual.

so waste away on it's own doesnt affect dino production from my observation.

i can afford one more light cycle without peroxide, but i am up in the air if i will do so.

like i said...
they came back as if i just took uv and peroxide offline.

im going to give this experiment a week. then i observe metro.

the reason it needs a week is because (supposedly) the bacteria in waste away consume nutrients. ill let it burn up whatever i cannot test for and pull peroxide offline again.

uv will remain offline for the week unless i feel i need to take control of the system again.

if the bacteria die to peroxide... well. oh well. im not having them eat my corals. my walt disney, orange passion etc would be less than happy.

again. directly... the product will not solve your problem.

Also not sure, like I said before, how only using the waste away will work. I posted it as a 3 day process with a combo of different things. I know that combo will work. I also understand that you are concerned about your inverts too with the refresh so I understand that you would not want to risk it. I used my process with no death to both my tanks and also the tanks at my LFS ( witch is packed with more sps than anyone should really own, lol) amongst all other type of sealife.

well the "direct" use of waste away doesnt cause dinos to stop.
ill run the experiment for a week. i have to keep peroxide online though.
