What are you using for circulation?

I (will) run 2 MP10wqds on Reef Crest during the day, about 34-45% (LPS tank) and lagoon mode at night. I also have a tunze return pump putting out about 150gph.
What is your tank size?

Question. No matter what I do my sand keeps blowing around . I face my two RW15 yo the water surface but my sand blows around any ways. It's a 180 gallon tank. Using a pond master 1200 return pump. And a fx5 as another pump with just chemipure blue in it. What can I do to solve this problem?? Please help. Thanks..

Have you adjusted the pumps to their lowest setting?

Yes.. but still blowing around. Theirs alot of water movement without the RW15.. Am tinkling of just not using them..but am not 100%sure that's what I want to do..

Although it's not hooked up yet, I will be using an RO Varios-6 and two MP40wQD's. I went with these because I wanted something large enough to carry over with an upgrade in the future, but the DC pumps allow me too adjust the power to fit my current needs.

I've seen many threads started about recommendations for circulation pump. Thought this would be a good thread to start and give people some sound advice about water circulation. List what your using and why your using it, AC vs DC, controllability, etc.

I've elected to go with Ecotech Marine Vortechs. I have a MP-40WQD and 2x MP-10WQD pumps in my take for circulation. I run the MP-10s @ 60% and the MP-40 @ 40%. I control these pumps on alternating times through my APEX controller, so 40 is at peak and 10s are at minimum. The control I have through the APEX is the primary reason I went with the Ecotech's.
What's your story?
Thx
I run two vortech mp 10s in a 46gal bow front. i change there programs weekly to keep things different,

2 mp40 and a jebeo rw8. One mp40 on each end and the jebeo on the back middle of our 4' 120. Just recently got an apex and need to pick up the module to control my radion and mp40

Two virtue has MP10 WES's on my 45 gal had them before this tank max I run is 45% unless I run nutrient and then 65%

You'll love the WXM. Take your time setting up your lights and pumps so you won't have to delete and the add them back. It's a potential problem. I added the module and device, then backed up my database so if I had to re-program I wouldn't have to start from scratch;) I love being able to control everything from one platform..

Sicce Syncra HF 12.0 Pump (3200 GPH) and 2 Neptune Wavs for an 85Gal DT. My sump is in my basement, so I have 10 feet of head.

Mine is a bit more pieced based upon prices when I got parts.

I have a refugium/sump with a SICCE Syncra 4 being blocked about 15%-20% with ball valve for quiet overflow.
Hydor Evo 850 and 1150 using a 1 minute change with a smart wave that run for about 11 hrs. and they swap to a 850 for 13 hrs. for the night. I also have a Aqueon QuietFlow 55/75 400 Gph that I run my mechanical filtration through.

Woot woot for Hydor! I never realized how many people don't use them... Currently I am running two Evo 1150s and a G3 2450 controlled by the Hydor smart wave set at three hour intervals.

Tunze 6105 and 6205. I had the mp40's for a while and didn't like them that much, but I think it is mostly personal preference. But DC pumps with a direct battery backup is the only way to go for both power outages and safety. I actually like the dc hydor too- they are on my frag tank right now, but there is no battery backup option that I know of.

That is the one drawback to the Vortech design: lack of customization in direction. It took me a few weeks of playing with the MP10 positions and power to get what I wanted which would be much faster if you could adjust their direction of flow like the Tunze or Hydor pumps, but I prefer the minimalist look in the tank :)

Jebao DCT12000 return at 40%
2 x Jebao RW8 100% 'Else' Mode on right side - mid height 1 front/1 back
1 x Gyre 150 on Top Left 40% long pulses
84"x27"x30" Tank

High flow across top where sps is and lower flow across sand for shroom/LPS dominant tank
