What Are Your Reefing Pet Peeves?

I have a couple of things that bug the CRAP out of me.
  • People that ask for advice on the boards and completely disagree with everything that everyone says until they hear the asnswer they WANT to hear. Why ask in the first place?
  • Tang police. That really bugs me. I've had Tangs in my 4' tank for years and they're doing just fine!
  • Greed, greed, and more greed. Some folks are just into it to make money selling pinhead sized frags for big price tags. If I sell frags I make sure the frags are well worth the asking price and then some.
Whew! I'm gonna go check my blood pressure now. :ops:

At this time, I would like to give Chris a big thanks for the forever thread we now have:xd:

I'll just add most of my local scene to this list :D

now thats funny. i foresee someone home being toilet pappered soon with a dead fish on the doorstep. note attached.. consider this a warning.

has anyone mentioned the over photoshopped pictures that some sell. yep the pink egg crate. this drives me nuts.

Pretty good stuff. But my pet peeve is going to tick a lot of you off:

I HATE the term "nitrate factory" with a passion. It says to me that somebody doesn't understand the nitrate cycle very well and should go run a large shark tank or freshwater aquarium to get up to speed on their value. I cringe and make myself step away from the computer when anybody asks if their bio-balls are okay (because I know the response somebody will toss in). YES! They are! But only so long as you understand their place -- just like any other piece of equipment.

An old beef of mine is deep sand bed totalitarianism. DSB was in vogue when I came into the hobby: "Deep sand beds are EASY! You are dumb if you don't have one!". I did my research and found out otherwise. I was practically ridiculed off the board I started posting on when I questioned this orthadoxy.

Honestly my BIGGEST pet peeve is ... my Regal (Blue) Tang who's at least 8 to 9 inches and guess what he would do to me ... the Hand that feeds him .... everyday  !!
Okay .. check this out. Whenever my hands are submerged for either target feeding(corals) or re-aquascaping ..... the darn fish would actually come right up to my working hand and physically "slap or push" my hands away  He's a Bully ... talk about those darn Damsels!!

LOL That's funny!

Yep :squigglemouth:

How about 'that guy' who waits untill the end of the frag swap, sees you have everything marked down to $10 ea and asks if you will take $5. When you say no, he replies, "how about two for $15?"

Boo to 'that guy'

People that buy stuff for a discount than try to resell on another site for a profit.
****!

My PEEVE is perfectly good R2R members who disappear and leave the forums for no reason.. :(

:D

My pet peeve is having problems going on when you can't figure out what the problem is. All your parameters are in check, and everything is great, but things still aren't doing well.

i only know of one solution for this: water changes and drinking lots of alcohol

i hate when people ignore or dont respond to PMs. especially when they have said they will buy something you have for sale. then for whatever reason you dont hear from them. to me that is frustrating!
