Do you have a QT? What amount of time and money is required to have one? I have never quarantined anything, but I know my time is coming... I roll the dice with each new entry.

All of it was self inflicted, I had a quarantine tank that is plumbed with the display and I just close the valves when I need to treat that way biological filter is there and toss the rubble rock I had in it but I had 2 baby mandarins in it that I was afraid to put in the display due to size. Rolled the dice and lost basically. Set up a 50 gallon afterwards to treat with copper and still lost all tangs, anthias, clowns and wrasses. Wrasses I had in a 20 gallon tank. I had only 5 out of 17 fish survive as it took me a few days to catch them all and had to take out all the rock to do it.

I don't even want to think about it. Total coral loss this year. Actually it's been in the works for a year as dinos over took a the tank and wiped out all the sps, lps and most of the softies. Plus the snails, shrimp and urchin.

The rebuild is progressing and quite an interesting process as I am fending off a slight recurrence of dinos. But this time I am way ahead of it and have a great R2R team providing guidance to get it right and encouragement.

just stopped by to say hi. I went thru my build thread recently. It was over a year of a total rebuild after Dino, cyano, algae and other junk. I lost a lot. The thing that bothered me was not the money as much as that each loss was a living things, my pet. I lost 3 tangs 8 plus years old during the process. After that long it is hard to assign a price to them.

My Favia of the gods isn't doing well, been shrinking not sure why when all other favias are fine,probably a couple other small corals.
A Davinci clown that honestly happy to see go, he'd attack me every timenid more frags and ge was agressice in tank with everything else- I think he beat my Royal Garrama to death.

I had a tank crash. I lost show size orange shoulder, show size naso tang, purple tank, foxfire, 2 clowns. So close to 1k. Rebuilding tank now.

I think <$20 in losses in the past 12 months. I tent to pick only some of the hardier species so risks are less. I thought I had lost a GSP colony due to a BTA parking on top of it for a month, but it moved last week and the GSP seems to be recovering slowly... I have 3 zoa frags that are not doing great but still hanging in there. No fish/invertebrate losses except a half dozen hermit crabs (which I consider inevitable).

I lost two blue throat triggers in QT. The first was almost ready to go to the display and it died of unknown causes. The second last 2 weeks and died. The other fish in QT I kept for another month and it was fine and is in my display.

I really want a blue throat.

With a upgrade from a 30 to two tanks a 100gal and a 125gal. I lost sooo much stuff. Just live stock wow.

Most of it was given to me except JF stuff. Losses I’m more responsible for are mostly fish. Keep in mind this is from two new tanks,
Gold rim tang, 3 leopard wrasse, 3 lyretail anthesis, whitetail bristletooth tang, yellow bellied hippo tang, scopes tang, orange shoulder tang, banded pipe fish, dragon faced pipefish, fairy wrasse. RIP my friends!
this list is starting to scare me .... haven’t killed any fish in 8 months.

I only lost a few frags this year so far. they would have been fine in my big tank, but I set up a 5g pico tank in February and sort of rushed it in putting sps corals in it.

We lost MANY fish in 7 days due to a bacterial infection. This sucked. It was our fault, and we've learned that we'll ALWAYS quarantine. Yellow-eyed Kole tang, midas blenny, magnificant foxface, 3 clownfish, Belus angelfish pair, mandarin goby, watchman goby, royal gamma, and 3 small cardinals.. all within 1 week. We believe we know the culprit that introduced the infection, but we'll never know for sure. I believe that BIG mistake was nearly $500 alone.

We had a golden dwarf eel jump.. $200

We've had $150 golden hammer coral polyp bailout,
a $200 3' blue carpet nem.

We've lost a few more corals, not many, and nothing real expensive or rare.

I've loosely calculated a year loss at $1300. And I'd contribute it to our fault 99% of the time. Our LFS has some problems too, but the MAIN issues we had are:
1. Did not QT our fish
2. Rushed into stocking our tank.

We need to learn patience...and we have... just at about $1300 per lesson.

I lost 2 Firefish, a diamond blenny, 1 birdsnest Coral.
I do have banggai cardinal and a watchman goby who live in the sump, they refused to stay in the display tank so they're kind of lost money because I don't get to enjoy them in the tank.
