The reason for not wanting the QT and DT close to together is for the possibility of cross contamination due to aerosols which could spread disease. The risk is low but if you want to be 100% safe try to keep space between tanks. This is a new one for me.
I think this is ridiculous but to each its own.The reason for not wanting the QT and DT close to together is for the possibility of cross contamination due to aerosols which could spread disease. The risk is low but if you want to be 100% safe try to keep space between tanks.
From what I am aware of and have read there are strains of both ich and velvet that can become airborne and infect nearby tanks. I don't remember exactly what I had read but @Humblefish and @melypr1985 could explain it better. Either way when it comes to diseases that have the potential to wipe out your entire fish stock, isn't it better to be safe than sorry?I think this is ridiculous but to each its own.
Well that's interesting.Disease transmission via aerosol: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/aerosol-transmission.190292/
