What tang is this? Difficulty?

Looks like yellow mimic to me as well. They don't get that large (8" according to LA). I had one several years ago and they get to be a pretty dull color when they get their adult coloration (pretty blah looking really). As I recall it was a very peaceful fish and a good worker but just kind of plain Jane looking as an adult.
Its not aggressive towards fish.

Its not aggressive towards fish.

All tangs can be aggressive to other fish but they are mainly aggressive to new fish. They usually are ok with fish that were there first or they have been with for a while but again it is not always the case and it can change instantly.

I have a sailfin Tang which are usually not very aggressive in a frag tank since he is new and has not been added to my main reef yet.. Anyway in another frag tank I have this little dwarf angel because he got to aggressive. Any way the angel jump into the tank with the sailfin. Well both are beat up pretty bad but the tang started the war with the angel... You just never know about tangs.

My ywg is pretty territorial, my tang jus ignores it.. lol.. its fun to watch how it ignores the ywg. Jus like many dogs ignore agressive dogs. The tang is only intrested in food as of now.

If it is a mimic tang this is what they will look like once they get there adult color. Personally I love it's color. He stands out in my tank with all the other bright color fish. He is my favorite tang in my tank.

Yeah it's not going to last because it has like zero room to swim, especially when it grows a bit. Tangs are already prone to ich but in a tank your size death is more or less inevitable :(

Well its a 24" cube. Iv seen many keeping larger full grown ones in this back sump bio cubes. Thts far smaller i guess. Well anyways im planning on a 150g in 3mnths, will shift it there.

It's a 2 inch fish he should be fine til you upgrade. I once kept a small yellow tang in a 20 gallon tank for 6 months. Now it's in a 150 gallon and almost 16 years old. If it's eating like you said your fine short term

oh no ... they're a nightmare once their numbers start taking off. I had a bad outbreak of them years ago and it was a multi week process to get rid of them. I cant remember exactly what I did to to remedy that outbreak, but I do remember countless hours siphoning the every square inch of rock work and sand in a 180 into a filter sock every day and the next day having the tank still infested. pretty sure i had to resort to flat worm exit and a got a couple wrasses that eat them.

Yea that definitely looks like a juvenile orange shoulder. The small dark spot behind the eye is the dead giveaway. That's the start of what will eventually become the orange bar that gives the fish it's name. Definitely going to need a 6ft tank of 125 gallons minimum. The bigger the tank the better. These guys get quite large.
