In my 3 gallon I used live rock and it cycled in 5 daysIts so funny how opinionated this hobby is lol. I love it.
"LET ER RIP" - Both the water and fish. You silly reefer, you dont have to cycle. Dont you watch the show Tanked?
Personally, I enjoy the abundance of advice given by those that have no coral or maybe just one and yet are so self-assured in their knowledge and expertise. Not a single picture to demonstrate their success or logic
Nature's ocean baby! That line too lol"LET ER RIP" - Both the water and fish.
Worst advise = "Sure you'll love the bio-cube. It's more than enough tank and you won't upgrade".
I've hear 92 lol, guy probably thought anthias are the same as african cichlid.Raise ur temp to 89 degrees to kill ich
Actually you don't need a skimmer to have a successful tank. I know because I've kept a tank for nearly 15 years without one!you dont need a skimmer
yeah, what is up with that? You silly reefer, you dont have to cycle. Dont you watch the show Tanked?
totally agreed with you on that one..those people are JOKE..Personally, I enjoy the abundance of advice given by those that have no coral or maybe just one and yet are so self-assured in their knowledge and expertise. Not a single picture to demonstrate their success or logic

and -hopefully- it w not create lasting seed issues in your tank.question:
if MACNA convention tanks are skip cycled, setup instantly using rules of transfer biology, my question is>
1. what does that say about cycling options
2. is that reserved only for pros, and not avail to anyone other than MACNA tank entrants? Not to be rogue, but skip cycling isn't just for breaking rules it can help when moving tanks, hospital tanks emergency ect. Clearly there are pro people skip cycling, Im wondering why we haven't just simply outlined the steps for all to consider, Im not sure waiting 9 arbitrary weeks with API ammonia tests in tow has done us well for cycling overall.
Recall these pros aren't taking 20K in bounce mushrooms over to insta reefs only for 25% of them to fail, or mini cycle...they are skip cycling 100% of the time, people read about it on the boards, im not sure information withholding is the right technique. imo better to explain and give options, and choose options based on outcomes. I realize a new keeper might not be able to predict/anticipate new tank issues, but its a fair statement that the traditional cycling methods (my pet peeve intro here) isn't working for the masses.
My worst advice that I read about and dislike: cycling has stages of algae that -may- come and go, you leave it in place to hopefully go. Cycling is for bacteria, algae is for algae. if you want to be on that roulette wheel, leave it in the tank at any stage![]()

The only reason I think a new tank keeper should even consider skirting rules is when they have pro test kits in tow, a specific goal, and they begin this as an aspect of tank control not just waiting for outcome...to me calculated rule breaking imparts confidence and tank control to new keepers, just my take.
My 1st tank build I was also told to use a check valve and I would never have a flood when the power goes out,
I was also told a Kenya Tree coral was a great addition to my reef tank.......
