That is hilarious and I didn’t know these existed lol! I can’t find Dick lol that’s what I would name it lol! And I am aware Dick is an actual name/nickname. So nothing against them lol.
Dick isn't my name but for some reason a lot of people think it is :thinking-face:

All the babbleage like super duper ultra rare hard to get once in a lifetime sort of bs. Zoa and acro names are especially off the wall. For LPS & shrooms all the god, ultra, superman, ironman blah, blah, blah. Perhaps the most abused with torches and hammers is now holy grail. I saw a good one today "super ultra ultimate showpiece" :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

Some of these people must have been carnival barkers in a previous lifetime lol

I did get called Richard Head once :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing: seriously lol
That was legitimately the name of our vice principal when I was in high school.
You didn't dare call him anything but Richard or Mr.Head.

I think we should just call corals by their species name with a descriptor in front, or genus if the exact species is unclear. The problem is that no two people pronounce the same latin name in the same way, and there's no way the vendors would agree to it. I'd rather buy something sold as a "Multicolor Acropora tenuis" than as an *insert vendor name here* Signature Rare Rainbow Splice Tropical Fruit Punch Acro, but I know lots of people wouldn't agree. If the lineage of the coral is particularly important, you could add a clarifier, like "Stuber's brown Acropora sp." It'd be much simpler.

Pretty sure that vendors these days sell corals for 20$ for each word in the name. It's even spreading to softies, I'm seeing "Metallic Green Ultra GSP" all over the place. Even with RFAs, they're all "ultra" when they used to just be green/orange/red/bicolor/whatever color it is.

How about blue hippo tang? They look nothing like a hippo! Why is this the most common name I hear them referred to as?
That’s a good one!

I’ll sneak one of my boring ones here which is the yellow coris wrasse, Halichoeres chrysus, which unlike the red coris wrasse, Coris gaimard is not a coris wrasse. Or in any way remotely similar.

I've said this before about the Mystery Wrasse...

There could absolutely be a way better name.
p. ocellatus should be p. mysterium.

Or I'm sure @i cant think or @Petcrazyson could come up with a way cooler name than that.
I already have lol, I think it was somewhere in another thread, somewhere lol, u even came back with a name remember? A crazy name but it was a name!

torches are the worst IMO
