600 Gallon Hawaiian Reef Addiction

The in wall tank is up and running! I was up late last night getting it plumbed and ready for water. The only thing left to do is to install the canopy and add the molding! Some corals and fish will be added this weekend!

Quick Tank Profile

Tank- dimensions 49x19x28 with a corner overflow. I bought this tank off a family who was tired of the hobby. There are two holes on the back which I siliconed glass squares to so there isn't the unpleasant view of two bulkheads with plugs.

Stand- The Stand was kept in tacked. There is a 4.5" shelf on the office side that was left exposed do to the tank being pushed into the wall.

Canopy- The canopy will be altered to fit the tank. Lighting will consist of three Kessil A350's set to mostly blue. Two Kessil 150's ocean blues will be added later for moonlights.

Flow- The flow is running off the same pump feeding the SPS tank in the living room. I will be adding a Vortech MP40 set to a pulse to create a wave action.

Livestock- This will be my nice and peaceful LPS deep water tank, livestock will consist of mostly Acans, Echinophyllias, Pectinas, Hammers and some deepwater sps etc. Fish- Black Tang, Borbonius Anthias, Redstripe Anthias, Pintail wrasses, Lineatus Wrasses, Rhomboid Wrasses etc.

I am very excited and relieved to have all the tanks up and running. I am looking forward to giving my full attention to the livestock, creating two different thriving reef environments, and aquaculturing corals for the local area.

Here are some updated pictures

**** I'm jealous!!! Wish I had a garage!!!!!!! Very nice work though. I like seeing these well thought out systems.

So awesome!

I think this by far my favorite of tanks, setups, the whole shebang! I love how your garage area is so stinkin clean. I'd like to give thought:
I wouldn't do a tank in a vehicle used garage. The reason being is even though you have your door open or extractor fans going there is still particulates being thrown in the air. Those will land in the tank. How detrimental to the livestock? I don't know. Over time I'd imagine it will kill things. Especially since certain corals and fish are more prone to death by merely looking at them. But given what comes out of exhaust, I wouldn't chance it. It would be great to see and study the effects from that kind of pollution.
.
Super awesome setup though. Can't wait to see more!

Thanks for your nice comment. I really not worried at all about the fumes affecting the system. I state My reasons why earlier in the thread. Thanks for your concern.

Thanks for replying. I did read you're reasons for fumes. I was talking more about the particulate matter that comes out of the exhaust. The tiny bits we can't see. Fumes would easily disperse, the particles would not. Just a thought. As long as you aren't concerned I suppose that's all that matters? :)
Great setup nonetheless.

Love the aquascape! Looking forward to following your progress...

100 gallon in wall tank 99% done!! The only thing I have left to do is touch up the paint on the canopy and install molding on the sides of the tank on the office viewing side. I will be adding a variety of corals tomorrow out of one of my aquaculture tanks, two Blotchy Anthias, Lineatus Wrasse and a Pintail Wrasse. Here are some updated pictures!
