I am SO glad I found this thread. I have a 3 month old tank and thought I was battling diatoms and Cyano. Confirmed Dino, pretty sure its amphidinium with a microscope today. Unfortunately I lost both of my clownfish to brook a couple of weeks ago so I'm running fallow for a couple of months. My nitrates are sitting at 2, and I am running a protein skimmer wet. I have been spot feeding my coral twice weekly with Mysis shrimp. Since I've confirmed Dino, how should I be feeding? Am I ok to continue spot feeding Mysis shrimp? Should I start ghost feeding NLS pellets as well to raise nitrates? My Dino is 80% in the sand, with some on the pumps, rock and glass. I have been blowing the sand and rocks daily with a turkey baster and catching what I can in a fine mesh net. I have also been running a small UV, I was going to upgrade to a larger one but after reading this thread that might be a waste...
