Some of my friend don't like reef2reef.

The OP is stating that there are a lot of "fake saltwater experts" out there. They often regurgitate information from someone else without understanding what it truly means or if it is even true. There are loads of these characters on the forums who give false advice for self-gratification. They often probe the forums for topics, google the answer, and write the searched answer as their own in which most cases the pasted answer can't be followed up with further information or intelligent conversation. They often speak with IME...... but can not back their experience with documentation. They often have "an answer" to most problems but clearly can't overcome the same problem in their system. They paste an opinion on a subject and later change that opinion months later to please the crowd.

I have done that before if I have no experience in the matter but know I just read a great write up with great info that they are looking for. I will goggle it but I don't rewrite the answer ( I am way to lazy to do that) I just post the link. Randy's stuff I quote a lot to people but I link them to it

Pasting/Citing a source is different. That allows the reader to go back and see where your information came from. Also, the source must be credible ( i.e. published information such as Randy's articles, documented experiments by professionals and hobbyists with reproducible results).

I agree with you both.
But Same could be said of Hollywood.

Expertise and experience are largely orthagonal. Neither proves or excludes the other.

Ocassionally, I've run into people who have had both and that can be a very enlightening experience.

But one thing I have noticed - those claiming to be experts rarely are, and those that posess some level of expertise usually are the first to admit how incomplete their knowlege actually is...

We all stand on the sholders of others in this hobby. If you disagree with something ask for sources...

That's not being lazy. If you don't have the correct answer, point the person in the right direction to a source they can always go back to reference.
