Honestly I am completely clueless. I have been doing everything by the book so for this to happen a few times makes zero sense.
Once the 2 tanks finish, and hopefully everyone survives I plan to break both qt tanks down and bleach everything!
I have 1 more batch of fish I want to put through QT, but won't do it until I sterilize it all and can start from scratch.

Currently the Lyretail Anthia QT tank (QT 1) is done with NFG and just finishing another 2 weeks of CP then a dose of General Cure.

The other QT tank (QT 2) has the flame hawk angel who is suffering from some type of infection and has become very pale and today wont eat, but the other fish are all doing great in that tank.

What meds are in this tank currently? What are you using to treat the infection?

You may think about switching the antibiotics to something more wide spectrum. Kanaplex + Furan2 + Metroplex would offer the widest spectrum.... though I've done with just two of them before and it worked ok. Just a thought of course.

Is that an acanthophilia? I love those. I have one at the store that's the size of a diner plate.

I was told it was a doughnut coral????
Whatever it is was a jaw dropper for me and I took the plunge! I am unsure best spot for it in the tank, any advice?

Having a hard time with placement as I have a diamond goby that is a sand sifting maniac and spitting sand on my corals. That is the reason you see them all on branch rock on my sand bed. I love the fish, and my wife really loves the fish, but it is becoming a pain in the @##.

Well, it could be an acanthophyllia, but it could also be a cynarina. It's hard to tell since it's not fully opened in the picture. An Acanthophyllia would be best on the sand, which would not be good considering the sand sifting goby. If it's a cynarina then it could go in the rocks... lower flow and anywhere from low-med-high lighting. I've seen them do well in all three but it took some time to get them used to it.

Its an acanthophyllia, low light low to moderate flow(too much will expose the skeleton). Really what they prefer is good eating. Usually when fed they will puff up and get HUGE with some AMAZING color.

Mine is already the size of a diner plate and likes to eat hermits.

lol You're very right, he has to have lots of room so when he puffs up he doesn't disturb the other corals.

This is why I always tell my customers to buy them for their color and not their size. In a year it'll open up massive even if purchased 2-3 inches in size haha. We had one

I had to get rid of my diamond goby. Kicking up sand all the time on any coral on sandbed. Caves under all my rockworck. He was cool to watch but he had to go.

Good luck catching him. I removed all my rock work to catch him. Put him in one of those breeder tanks you hang on side of tank for the night waiting for some guy to pick up woke up in the morning he jumped out of the breeder thing which had a cover on it and back into tank. Had to remove all my rockwork again next day
