Ecotech Vortech MP-40 - Huge Price Drop Announced Today !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There was a Huge Price Drop on the Ecotech Vortech MP-40 Power Head Announced Today.

http://www.marinedepot.com/EcoTech_M...FIPHAD-vi.html

Originally 465.00
Then 395.25
Now 299.99

The MP-60 Dropped in Price Last Year from 750.00 to 675.00

And the MP-10 (285.00) is only 15.00 less than the MP-40 (299.99) which makes no sense so I am expecting a Price Drop on that too.

I can't wait!

Also the same price at BRS...thinking they are getting hurt by the CORALVUE gyre sales

The Gyre kicked the MP40 in the nads, this is what they've got to do to attempt to stay competitive. Considering that one 50w Gyre can still replace TWO MP40... well, you do the math. ;)

MP-40 should be 149.99 then to compete evenly.

Make the MP-10 74.99 so I can get some!

I don't see the gyre being able to replace the MP-40 altogether. If it had the ability to create random flow patterns like the vortech, then it would potentially be an all in one flow solution. But, right now it only pulses or flows at a constant speed. Its great to use with the MP40s though.

I know a bunch of people that have been using Vortechs for Years (And Loved them too) but Sold them all and switched once this Pump came out.

That says a lot.

have you seen the demos of the gyre pump?

I just bought the gyre150 at christmas and i have to say that i absolutely love it !!! i was running 2 wp-40 and i took both of them out i have better PEon my acros and everything in my tank seems to love the flow ! i run it at the pulse speed at 80% and its awesome !!!

I been thinking of buying one of these r they worth it

I own one actually:) I added it to my 2 vortechs. I can see people wanting to use these exclusively, but for me the Vortechs are far better in terms of creating random flow patterns. I use the gyre to get large, uniform water movement going, but the vortechs are there to add all kinds of randomness. Using both together you get the best of both worlds and absolutely no dead spots! I don't blame people for wanting an alternative to the MP40s though, they were previously very pricey. The new pricing certainly makes things more even. Congrats to the gyre guys for helping bring down prices by introducing some competition!

Anyone trying to sell any 40s cheap

They already were cheap used.

Before Jeboa

465 new 400 used (Held 86% of their Value)

After Jeboa

395.25 new 200 used (Dropped to almost 50%)

Now 299.99 new used ?

The new Gyre would have dropped them even more even if their was no price drop.

But today there is a Price Drop too.

People will probably be giving these away?

I have seen the grye, but still have my money on the vortech. That may change, and it may be that adding a gyre to the vortech is the best option.

However you look at it, a price drop is awesome news!

This will be good for everyone. I am sure Ecotech will step up to the plate with something fantastic. For my cube tank the grye was not a good fit.

The perfect pump for me right now would be the gyre from coralvue with the controller and flow patterns of Ecotech Vortech. The company that achieves this will be a winner in market.

Agree. I have the same in my tank.

Totally agree. And I wouldn't be surprised if Ecotech already has that in the works.

One would hope so.
The MP40ES was a quantum leap for Ecotech but other systems have come on the market that have have closed the gap.
Time for the next leap?
