Enough with the live sales already

Thread censored.. Boooo

Censoring is a bad look.

We didn’t remove anyone’s post. I removed my own because I realized it was an older post I was quoting when I thought it was one posted today.

As far as live type sales go I enjoyed the Flash sale that Top Shelf put on last week much more than the typical live sales. After that one I probably won’t participate in any more traditional live sales because I find them too frustrating. With the flash sale with 120 something corals dropped hourly I was able to get every coral on my list and snag a free coral, a $5 coral and a $10 coral as well. If vendors are going to do live type sales, TSA’s method of that flash sale is the way to do it I think.

Yeah I can see how that would be better than the drip feeding that most vendors do.

Honestly the best thing to do if someone doesn’t like them is to simply not buy from them or even go into the thread. That way you’re not stressed and others can enjoy what they enjoy.

It sucks wanting to buy frags from a vendor and knowing the stock available is dismal (and overpriced to make people in live sales *THINK* they're getting discounted corals) because most of their corals are annexed for live sales.
If live sales weren't taking away normal stock from these vendors I don't think it would be as big of an issue.

Yeah I totally have to agree. TSA's flash sale was definitely the way to go. You don't have to sit there and waste your whole day away. Come by every hour for a few minutes, get the pieces you want and Bam done! Other vendors should definitely implement that method! I saw world wide's sale is going to some stupid hours and you have to be glued to the computer the entire time. So essentially you waste your entire day refreshing non stop and chances are you probably won't snatch up any of the good deals.

But you pointed out the conundrum. If there were normal stock, live sales wouldn't be popular. If you're thirsty and the only way to quench it is to fight your way to the trough, then you become conditioned to satisfy your thirst that way. But given the option to walk to the sink and fill your cup any time you want, what would most people choose?

Or... Or... stick with me here... this may be hard to follow. Or instead of having a selected day and hour to check availability, you pick a day and time of your choosing, and make a purchase at your convenience???

But you did sensor live sale discussion in this thread, care to explain?

I'm in the same boat! I do not, and don't suspect that I ever will, participate in the live sales. I understand why vendors do them, But when I'm making purchases for my tank, I want to have the time to consider where the piece will go, how will it look, what are it's needs, etc. I have been putting different corals, and goods, in my shopping cars on various sites for weeks now, but have yet to hit the "purchase" button.

Simply put, I don't typically make impulse purchases, but to me it seems that is all you do in a live sale!
Where are you getting your fish from the couple places you be been to have limited stock meaning shot loads of clowns and then about it. Even the LFS are out of stock.

No I didn’t censor it I just closed it because referring to our good sponsors or any good members as scammers isn’t going to fly unless it’s the truth. When it is the truth we’ll come in hot and heavy and fight with you to get your money back. Just because someone thinks one way or doesn’t like something doesn’t make it a scam. :) If we were censoring we wouldn’t even know that thread or this one existed.

I have a couple of good LFS in my area that have decent fish selection. While many have no stock of fish and minimal corals, one in particular has a surprisingly large number of fish in stock. Another has a pretty decent selection of corals still coming in. I am in no hurry to purchase corals and my tank is already stocked with fish (to my liking anyway). I am happy to wait out the COVID-19 closures.

@revhtree. I posted in the most overrated and underrated corals thread the other day and my post has been removed? All I simply said was Wwc Og Bounce was my most overrated mushroom and didnt see the hype behind it. Also listed zoas only because I'm a mushroom hoarder. But my post was removed and idk why?
Also i have been part of certain threads here one in particular and we where only discussing what stocks to buy during this crisis and for the most part was going good and alot of insightful info being put out by members and it just vanished. Totally gone.
I do understand the need to keep peace here and get it someone has to administer a certain degree of rule or else things can get out of hand fast and I've see that here as well.
But I have also found myself scratching my head at certain things too.
All I'm saying is if I or any of us feel our posts are just going to be deleted that's not a good feeling. I love it here. Spend most of my time here and forums are all about posting.
Point is I've felt like maybe I shouldn't post certain things now because it may be removed.
That's not a good feel when your on a forum posting I guess.
Perhaps you have a MOD that's going crazy censoring things?
Members should be able to have intelligent conversations with one another even if certain members dont agree with other members correct?

I’m scratching my head too because this is the first I’ve heard of it! Let me check!

So I just did some checking and I see no report on it. I also don’t see where you posted that post at all. If it were removed we mods would still be able to see it as we don’t allow hard deletion of posts. I would also see it in your recent posts but I’m only showing three posts for you today. Could you possible have not submitted the post after you composed it? We certainly don’t care if you say you don’t like particular corals. I hate the OG bounce until I got one in a trade and now it’s one of my faves.
