One last question for tomorrow. since the piping is 1" in the sump i would need to get a reducer to 3/4 from the return tee right?
 
If it was me I would run soft tubing for my drain and be able to remove it with a bulk head when not in use and just simply re attach it when needed so it's not in the way,, just roll it up and put away,, I would put a ball valve with bulk head on it and just unscrew one side when done with it,,, I would reduce the tubing down to 3/4 personally to make it easier to deal with...
 
so Tee off from the Return pump > valve > Bulkhead > 3/4" Reducer ?
(bulkhead inserted in wall beside sump?) hmm sounds good also. That way I can direct the waste water anywhere i want. Thanks man.
 
Also, i have one last question for you guys. Do any of you only use only one "overflow" pipe for tanks over 100g. Im using a 1-1/2" durso pipe with 1" Bulkhead opening and 1" for the return. This would give me about 1560gph gravity fed and I know its suggested to have the tank turn over 10x. Do you guys suggest more or would this be perfect considering the reactors and fittings.

I came across this clean set up. Im wondering what fittings were used to incorporate this hard plumb x Soft tubing connection. Anyone?

I've actually read articles on how 10x flow through the sump can actually make your filters miss things due to the water moving too fast.. Skimmer works best with a slower flow to give more time to filter it
 
And all that is in the picture is some bulkheads, t fittings, couple inches of soft tubing (the wire look is the type of tubing, it doesn't kink as easy,, also some bard fitting from hard to soft tubing.. They do that because the transition to soft tubing helps cut down on noise from the pump,,, also I think I see some female slip fittings and the tru Union ball valves... Hope I helped.. Check out bulk reef supply or something similar.. I get all my stuff from there

This stuff is a pain and needs to be warmed to be made more pliable... heat gun is a must have... lol

I have the same setup on the 150 DT, IMHO the flow you will have with that over-flow through to the sump should be fine, and keep in mind that is the return pump that dictates the flow over the over-flow.

Awesome! So for the return. would the pipe distance be too far if the drainage travelled all the way to the laundry sink? how should that be fitted? its about 9ft distance. Not considering the 90s and 45s added because i will need to maneuver behind the cabinets.

if my math is right, you're at 2774.11 gph.... so that run should be no problem... that's at 0 head pressure but I'd be surprised if you have an issue...
