Here it is! Fenbendazole use against hydroids

Ended up doing a 50g wc. Looks like all the hydroids look dead, but one... All have lost their heads but one still has it. Don't know if it's dead and not lost it or what. I'll up date that latter. All corals look good so far. Did my wc at 31 hours, due to traffic. I have over 20 sps corals/colonies and maybe 10 lps.

I have only have one monti, Idaho grape that RTN a little
All fish, shrimps and crabs are doing well

I don't know what I did wrong. But I have a few that survived..... I used fish bendazole (fenbendazole)

Yeah I read that green star polyp, cloves, and xenias would be affected. I couldn't remove the one i glue to overflow.

36 hours later and everything looks good, except GSP and colonial hydroids. Gonna do a 10% WC tonight.

Did the fish fenbendazole kill them all? I dosed the same and didn't seem to get them all..
Maybe the fish fenbendazole is not as strong as the dog fenbendazole.

You can always just dip the ones that survived

Did you have any reactors running with media, had skimmer on or UV when you were dosing at all?

Yes 1.5mg per gallon of water. So 1 scoop per gallon will work for you.
1 level scoop of the red sea spoon is 1.1mg so I make it a little mounded for 1.5mg

Does Red Sea have different sizes of spoons in their test kits? I have one from their calcium test and if I used that calculation with the spoon I have I'd be using multiple packets of the fish fenbendazole. Maybe I'm being just super paranoid but only want to kill the hydroids, not the tank.

Actuall, I may not be too bad. I got nervous around the 7th spoon and only did another 1/2 so I'm not too far over. Some were heaping, others were a little less that full. about 65 gallons of water.

I have the water and carbon all set for tomorrow. Or sooner if things start looking funky. Everything looks good right now other than a Mill that doesn't seem to like it but still has some polyps out.

They are on a few huge rocks with lots of corals on them. I did not unplug my uv... Is that where I went wrong? Today it looks like lots have popped out new heads. But killed about half of them. Took a tole on some of my sps colonies. A couple mills are ducked up a little rtn on a monti and 3 different birds nest are not polyping out very well.

I dosed my tank on Saturday. I guesstimated my total volume to be 45 gallons (signature 900 tank), so I went with about 67mg of fish bendazole to get a 1.5mg/gallon ratio. I did a large WC yesterday and added some carbon in a slow reactor.

So far everything apart from the hydroids look good. Clams looked completely unfazed although I am suspecting that they reduced the effectiveness of the meds as they would probably have filtered a lot out.

So far it does seem to have gotten all my colonial hydroids. Fenbendazole works slow, cause there were some that had heads after my 3 WC, and now i don't see the heads.

Yes it is not a fast acting solution.
It takes a little time to get into the body system and shut them down.

I had a starfish and a few snails (Turbo and Nerite) I missed that are still kicking. Think it's a sign the dose was on the week side?

Depends on how the hydroids are looking but typically will kill those snails

My daughters frag tank has digitate hydroids
Any of you guys know if the blue sympodium she has will not make it?
I think they are a close relationship to blue cloves

Hydroids are definitely diminishing. I have two clams that showed no signs of being bothered either. I know someone was asking earlier. Squamosas.
