I also like this idea. I like the recent posts part of the main page but would love to be able to look at more than just the last 20 or so.

I guess my only gripe is that it also mixes in sponser, local and marketplace threads where the main page separates them.

It would be cool to have a member map.. basically a thread where you put your address then someone (i can volunteer) can add them to a map app (plenty of free ones out there), and everyone can see if they have anyone in their area who is a member which in turn would promote more real life social interactions

How can we encourage people to post a follow up to to their post. It would great to know decisions made and their outcomes. I feel especially good when someone does post their success. It would also help others with similar situations, and figure out what doesn't work as well.

I think R2R is great as can be, hence why it's my one and only stop for reefing info online.

I have only one slight gripe regarding notifications. Often I don't have time to go through all my notifications, but if I don't click on a thread notification within a few days, it gets lost in the shuffle. I'm sure I've missed out on a lot of great threads which I intended to follow closely - build threads in particular.

On another forum I used to frequent, if there was activity/comments/likes/etc on a thread I'm following, it would automatically move that thread notification to the top of my notification list.

Surely this is something you have considered and maybe there is some great reason you do it the way you do. It's just the only thing I can think of that I don't absolutely LOVE about reef2reef. Keep up the great work @revhtree and all other contributors

Being able to filter out or highlight OP posts vs others would be a huge help when you find a build thread or similar in process. Thx

Here are some ideas:

1. Show a user how many people follow their threads. I, and others, have mentioned this in the past. I think this would help morale for those who feel their thread is not gaining traction in the early stages of a build. Passive followers do not always post a lot, but they are always there.
2. Related to the above, in general, I would love more thread statistics and I bet other reefers would too.
3. It was said earlier it would be nice to single out a particular user in a thread and read only their posts. Similarly, I really wish I could go to a long thread and just view all of the images. A thread like this for example would be an awesome time kill viewed as pictures only

That requires some heavy duty server space, not to mention the time it takes to load on someone's device when reading the thread, and the physical size it would load at.
You should download images to your computer and resize to a more manageable size at 72 dpi. Fast uploads/downloads. Everybody's happy.

What upload size do you prefer us to use from Tapatalk on IOS?

I tend to choose Medium normally or High for more detailed photos - not sure what DPI that corresponds to.

I wish when you ask a question or see people ask questions there was a way to sort out good advice from bad advice. Even if by the (like)button there was a (good advice/not so good advice) poll for every comment”answer” when in reference to a question, I feel like that would save a lot of reefers from doing something drastic because a few people comment and the rest remain silent.

But this site is great. That would just be bonus points

My only suggestion is a way to "pin" threads/articles for easy reference. For example, I frequently look up the Medications and Quarantine (the one with charts) articles, rather than just watching them it would be nice to somehow pin them on my end for quick reference so I don't have to scroll through all my watched content to find them.

A related suggestion would be a way to organize my watch content by topic. Just a little box so I can group by equipment, QT/medication, builds, chemistry, etc (or let users set custom categories. Or have it auto-sort by forum location (might be the simplest?)

Last suggestion, a way to start a post then select a forum for it on the home page rather than having to navigate to the forum then make the post

Posted this elsewhere too, I wish the Unread Watched Threads page was multi-paged and did not revert to All Watched Threads after 20. Would make it way easier to keep up if I could concentrate on only the unread ones.

You can bookmark threads/posts. Next to the report button, it says bookmark. You can find bookmarks by clicking on your username in the top right.

How about what reefs.org used to do with maco
They offered online classes geared toward the hobbyist.

I took one put on by Eric Borneman that was a marine biology class.
It was done through IRC chat and email. This one required a little more than most classes and was pretty involved.
We had to buy some pretty hefty books for it. It also had labs you did at home and did reports. Reefs put up any other material for download.
Most of the other classes had much lower requirements, this was a advanced class. I think they had other ones that were more entry level too.

I know there was a reef chemistry class I think it was run by Randy.

They had pretty many and varied ones. I think they had aquarium photography etc.

It was a small fee and was very popular.

I rarely use tapatalk. Usually i'm posting from my computer and my images are on smugmug, so I'm copying the url from there and pasting into the R2R image attachment dialog box.
But in the rare instance I'm on tapatalk and uploading a phone pic, I'll usually choose medium.

I’ve mentioned this somewhere in the past but being able to sort or filter a thread to only see posts from the OP would be a nice add. For instance if I’d like to follow @revhtree build thread to see your thoughts and progression I must go through hundreds of pages to find them. It would make catching up on peoples journey’s much much easier to do.

Can I vote for this? That's something I have wished for also.
