I almost ripped UPS a new one

It’s company policy currently. It’s happening throughout UPS on a national level. I’m guessing due to the pandemic they have altered certain things, and this happens to be one of them.
The issue of delivery attempted and no delivery was attempted was happening before the virus

Happened to me last week and last I checked I didn’t move.
Don’t see me on a reef forum acting like a psycho about it.

I definitely do not recommend UPS that is for sure

This is the variable I hate. Best thing you can do is go to the physical hub. Speak to a manager and meet the driver somewhere.

The reason this happens is because drivers get dinged if they don't make their route on time and say a package was supposed to be delivered by 10 am. Well out of 20 packages if they just shift the blame to the user saying " they weren't home or some bs" well they have like a 90% chance the user will get lost in the phone system or just not care and they avoid a ding on their record.

Again the only way to get your item is to physically go to a main hub. Speak with a manager and explain it's a live item and you need to meet with the driver. Short of doing that, you will get lost in a frustrating run around and most likely your items will die.
Keep in mind if you are lazy and don't do this. Demanding a refund from the shipper, it does raise the cost of doing business for all of us.

I recently had this happen twice with Adam from battlecorals and he was very appreciative I went out of my way to get the corals!

There is NO excuse for lying, especially in a professional setting. If you can’t make your delivery, say so. Don’t put that on the customer.

Edit: Nice straw man you pulled there bro.
And with that, I’m out. I don’t argue straw man arguments.

Who lied? OP or UPS?

Tapping out also. Enjoy the evening.

Wow!!! The problem was the lie that they tried to deliver! Glad your coral made it home.

I bet all of you bashing the OP aren’t the coral business who was glad to make a sale to have the money to buy some essential items. What about the upgrade orders? Don’t you think UPS and FedEx are backed you enough with “essential items” that they don’t need to handle another package for an item that someone is just upgrading?

Jump off your tall horse named pandemy and read what the “venting” was about.... the delivery company lied. If they would have just shown up 2 hours late I doubt anyone would have an issue....but they LIED!

It may not make the headline news now but newsflash all next day air shipments do not make it next day. There will be fallout. Now that UPS is not guaranteeing them either it will be more prevalent. Order at your own risk. Flight schedules are changing / being cancelled and it is more challenging with many deliveries requiring 2 flights to get to their destination.

Order from vendors that use FedEx. Never had an issue with them and they are still guaranteeing livestock (they adjusted the days they can do livestock tho)

The company in general should get a ding. Yes I spoke to someone from UPS (the only way I could speak to someone was to press the option to order supplies. No I will not be ordering any of your supplies) and let them know it was livestock and got a call back saying that I could pick up the package at 7:45pm before they closed at 8pm

I think you might be correct I don’t think I have had an issue with them but I would have to look back to be certain

Well you caught me I guess myself and the other people who have had UPS say they tried to deliver a package when they did not have nothing better to do. Enjoy your evening as well

You get one of these too:

I have had a few packages sent next day air that delivery was attempted and was not. Did not call nor did I request the cost of next day air shipping to be refunded until this shipment (not going to request a price adjustment on shipping this was not the sellers fault). Mistakes can happen but this is a pattern. Been looking for almost a year for this coral and finally found it up for auction so I rolled the dice and I was determined to get my coral in the tank today

I didnt read any of this, but why are people still ordering when shipping companies suspend their guarantee? Huge risk you are taking and imo not their fault if its running late.

FedEx problems are well documented and it's long term viability in question. Why, because UPS stepped up their game with eTail deliveries. FedEx main money money maker was document delivery but pdf and email made most of that obsolete.

Interesting that many on the board have a high view of FedEx while trashing UPS when the markets are declaring UPS the winner (until amazon puts UPS out of business).

GPS, photos and "We Tried to Deliver Notes" will eventually put the phantom delivery practice to an end.

So Fedex was supposed to deliver at 12 today to my house. However, the Clown pair and anemone are stuck in another state with no sign of movement since 11:40pm last night. Best case scenario I get them tomorrow, worst case they come Monday.

Any suggestions of how to go about this once I get them? Any special acclimation/medication procedures I need to employ? I know they are going to have to be stressed to the max, especially the anemone...

I assume the UPS bashers will show up to this thread and post accordingly

oh wait, it's only UPS that fails to deliver.

Being retired, I've volunteered a few times for UPS during the holiday season as a "jumper" I sat in the jumper seat and delivered to one house while the driver delivered to another.

During the holidays the trucks were jam packed as I'd assume much like they are today. Next day air packages usually had their own section in the truck so the driver can streamline those deliveries. However due to the truck being so packed the packages weren't in the section they were supposed to be. I've witnessed on several occasions that the driver spent a good 20 minutes shuffling boxes around only to come up short. Usually results in wasted time because they have a schedule to keep, which means the unethical decision was made to skip that house by reporting that the package wasn't on the truck, or in the case of next day airs, they mark it as attempted delivery and move on.

The way that they use scanners to track and load packages onto the truck, there's no doubt in the drivers mind that the package is somewhere on the truck, but it's not where it should be.

By the end of the day when most of the packages are delivered these packages are found (as you would guess) in the wrong spot on the truck.

I don't have an ounce of doubt in my mind that a variation of this scenario played out in this case. The driver doesn't want to get dinged, and the easy solution is to mark it that way in the system... the question becomes, who's at fault? The driver? because he lied? Or the company for setting such high standards to where they discipline drivers if they miss a delivery time? When corporate sits down to a meeting and sees a chart with missed deliveries, they're going to ask a lot of questions and make the managers to do their job and come up with a solution... in order for management to keep their plate clean, it wouldn't be too far fetched that they encourage such behavior from their drivers.
