Firstly I don't think that maxspect 130 is too badly priced, now the vortech pumps are coming down. You know why? Because of similar options that are considerably less expensive. I personally understand the upset that comes from having so ething stolen from me, I've been robbed. In my opinion you folks that paid peak prices for the vortech pumps have been robbed and that's why you are upset. I have five (yes five) kids and my wife is still stay at home, I make about 40k a year and reef is my hobby. I think people like myself deserve an affordable option, don't hate.
Greatly said!

U know, some people can't afford as much as others, and by calling the people who buy the knockoffs cheap and bad people is saying your superior...well news flash, ur not no matter how much you think you are. U can still die and it doesn't take any more effort to kill you than any of use who buy the cheaper option. And if you say that u are superior and claim yourself as a good person and you aren't providing help for those who can't afford the better product, then no your not a good person, your being selfish. Some people just can't afford it. Just because u can doesn't give ANYONE the right to look down on everyone who can't. End of story.

Many vendors are walking away from Yeahboo, LOL!
Due to the lack of service yeahboo is giving and the vendors are sick and tired of customers that come back in the store to complain, all the vendor can do is point back to the manufacture warranty only which is 0 to nothing.
Why is it that you don't find them by the BIG marine vendors and just only at the online or small LFS?

Who is looking down on someone? Who called someone cheap or a bad person? You make assumptions about the means of the people in this conversation and I'm not sure what basis you have to make them. If you buy something which furthers the theft of someone else's hard work it doesn't matter whether you can afford the more expensive product or not. I contend that the argument of cost and means is no justification for supporting this company. If you disagree, explain why. Give a counter example.

To me, saying it is OK to buy the infringing product because you can't afford the original sounds the same as saying I can't afford a new iPhone so I'm going to steal one from the store and no one should be mad. The phone is too expensive, but I want it.

Tried jaebo power heads and none lasted more than 6 months. I tried a jaebo 12000 return pump and at least I got a year and a half before it failed. Still not long enough for the money spent. Perhaps these could be the source of tin in my tank on the last triton test. I also didn't realize these are not UL certified (a reefer here on r2r had a house fire a couple months ago and the source was a non UL certified piece of equipment)

i choose quality and reliability over stolen intellectual property.

Stealing is WRONG and buying something you know was stolen is also WRONG.

Perhaps the Jaebo fans were unaware of the unscrupulous nature of that company. now you've been informed to help you make better ethical descissions in your future purchases.

For the record, my experience with the max spect gyre isn't perfect either but I felt it proper to defend their rights of personal property.
This is saying that anyone who bought the product is stealing, that is saying that the buyer is a theft and criminal, and that is looking down. Whether you want to believe it or not. And when it comes to your iPhone analogy, that is incorrect it just means we spend less money on a different phone.....

And for starters let's see the proof that they are being sued for the copy. I have yet to see any fact proving that they stole this idea and that they are being sued for it. Yeah people have said they are but that's just word of mouth, not fact

Hey man I started this as a LOVE Jebao thread.

I admitted to having bought two Jebao pumps and I have them in my tank now. I did not know about these issues when I bought them. Anyone who bought them without knowledge isn't blameless, but certainly can't be faulted the same as someone who does so knowingly. I am sickened by the fact that I have enabled the furtherance of Jebao's ability to do this. I look down on myself.

Your statement about buying a cheaper phone is completely accurate, but incomplete. Would you buy a knockoff iPhone or would you buy a model with less features or a different kind of phone? Apple is very good at protecting their intellectual property (AKA they sue a lot of people).

And for starters let's see the proof that they are being sued for the copy. I have yet to see any fact proving that they stole this idea and that they are being sued for it. Yeah people have said they are but that's just word of mouth, not fact
I already posted the link to the ITC complaint. Lawsuits of this type are expensive and time consuming. They are not entered into lightly. It is true that until a judge says it is an infringement it is just opinion.

EDIT: Post 1000 for me :)

Lol a hate Jebao thread, supported by reef builders
No love lost on Reef Builders from me. Their product "reviews" have always tended to be strongly biased and I place no value on them.

Diesel, they are not sold at your larger stores because your tunze, ecotec vendors tell them if they carry Jebao they cannot carry their products.

I personally have a Gyre, its a nice pump, I also have tunze, Jebao....and have used pretty much everything in the hobby in the last 13+yrs. Is it right that Jebao has been KO'ing things, probably not but look at prior powerheads like sun sun, vibration pump's, coralvue powerheads....they are all KO's of Tunze's. Hey, anyone heard of Hydor? One could argue this just as easily, so to only target Jebao is kinda silly.

Reefbuilders gets paid and free products from many suppliers, ofcourse they are going to bash Jebao as they didn't get any cash or products from them. RB has some great info but you have to take the advertising and hands on for what it is, nothing more than shilling.

I can't change someones mind on cost of purchasing cheap products I just let the products do that for them.:) No use trying to do it people just need to learn it for them selves.:)

I believe this thread has much as the same as other silly Yeahboo threads.
It's like a weed, they get active and grow really fast but run out of power due to their own failure and disappear as fast they came.
If you really believe in the practice from Yeahboo than nobody can stop you to do so.
I for a fact don't, it's a piece of mind that I go to bed (that is if I have time) and let my Gyres do their work for what they are designed for.
The next morning they still do for what they designed for, moving water and make the corals happy at the end make hobbyist happy............ piece of mind!

Marketing is far from my domain, but Apple seems to do just fine with a high cost product. You can't underestimate the value of a brand name. I think Apple still makes the most expensive phones (at least mainstream ones) and they have 44% market share. I don't know what makes someone buy a product, heck I don't know what makes me buy a product.

I find it difficult to believe you did not know about Jebao powerheads before buying. It was well documented long before they were available to purchase in the USA about the similarities to the Tunze and Ecotech. But it is what it is, perhaps you didn't know. However to say that your "sickened" by the fact that you "have enabled the furtherance of Jebao's ability to do this" while still running them in your tank is a bit hypocritical wouldn't you say?
