Jebao powerheads

Did anyone try the new MOW seiries yet?

I am temped to pull the trigger on these for my 6' Budget build Peninsula tank.
I bought the mcp 120 for my 120g build, mounted vertically, it was too much flow, ended up going a size down.

Good to know! That will be the lone pump on the one end of a 6' tank sending water across the top. think I should come down as well?

I run all my return pumps through them as well.. I have currently 9 of them running and not a single failure for the return pumps. I was wondering how the new app was, it looks like it will do a well enough job for what I want.

I also was wondering if the Grye would play nice with the MOW's in the app...
The app is ok. Can be a pain to get it started. But once you do it's pretty good. I have 4 mdc10000 return pumps from them on a closed loop System. I hope they add a wave function for them to the ap so they can run like the dcq10000 in the future.

I bought a couple MCPs (120 & 180) love that I can control the flow at two different angles per pump. But like others have said you need to turn them on low, way to powerful on my 7ft tank.

I've got the cp170s 4 of them in my 8x3x2 400g along with 6 other jebao powerheads. I run them all on 100% else mode. My reef is 99% sps and I actually want even more flow haha. I'm contemplating getting an abyzz 400 and put it on a closed loop

Do the MCP pumps have a reverse gyre setting? If so how strong is flow in that mode?
Not that I know of but possibly. Most reverse mode pumps are weak at best. What works better is two opposing pumps switching on and off in a back and forth pattern.

Shocked at so many say their gyre is too powerful. I have their largest size gyre on my 90 and I run it at 80%. Only because I feel like running anything at 100% at all times lowers its lifespan. The greatest thing about a gyre is that you can CRANK the flow and it just skims the top of the water. No flow blasting anything in the tank unless it’s at the top 15% of the water column. Once you get the pump depth and angle of exciting trajectory right. They just churn loads of water without worry.

my first addition jebao gyre was designed different and died because the rubber bushings inside near the motor wore out. The new version is designed better and I rarely clean it. It’s awesome. In addition, for comparison, I just finally popped for two MP-40s and I don’t understand what all the hype is about. Not that wide of a flow, noisy compared to all the pumps I have ever used from jebao. They are easy to clean if you have an extra wet side, but may be the first “premium” reef gear I bought and think I wasted my money on.

I have 2 MOWs running for over a year now. No issues at all, and I am terrible about cleaning them. :D

I just ordered 3 more MLWs yesterday to add some flow to a couple other tanks. The JBJ I'm setting up as an anemone tank will be running a pair of the MLWs and a MDP return pump. All wifi app controlled.

Honestly, I'm thinking abut ditching the MP10s on my 30L and replacing them with MLWs.

I've used jebao pumps exclusively for the past 6 years. Big fan.

Have a pair of MLW-30s on my 36" tank running at 40% on random flow mode.

All my return pumps are jebao.

Also run my reactor on one and love it since I can turn the pump down instead of using a ball valve and putting a bunch of back pressure on a pump.

I've used a bunch of their more traditional powerheads as well, always worked great.

Will have to try out the gyre styles again if people are getting more longevity. Mine always had the shaft break after about a year. Found gyres to be awesome pumps but seemed they were all fragile.

I was an anti gyre guy for a long time. It was me not them, lol. The cleaning part was/is still a pain but after mounting them vertically as a sole source for a powerhead, I love them.

I picked up the pumps in my post so I will report back on the newest model. I also bought the brand new Doser so will try and remember to report back on that as well.

I'm using a older 3 channel doser, outside of the crappy calibration and lack there of under 10ml dosing, it's ok...

I just need it to dose 15 ml for carbon dosing plus another one for dosing 15 ml of Aminos. So nothing is extremely important or precise.

I was going back and forth between the MOW's vs the MLW's and with all the Nero 5 reviews of sucking things into them, they made me a bit nervous. So I went the larger, full caged MOW 22's

I have 2 sow22's high flow from them. I'd say close to mp60. They hit the opposite side of my 8x3x2 400g without any difficulty
