Jebao powerheads

The slw10 seems perfect for my nuvo10 nano. And at $50ish brand new shipped, I don’t think it can be beat.

I have 2 of the slw-20 in the middle of my 180 and they are great

I have lost 2 out of 3 after cleaning the pump in vinegar. Put them back in the reef and they died shortly after. I noticed the cords look as if the vinegar started to eat them (lost their shine). The third I have never put motor in vinegar just brush it out now and then it has lasted 2+years. In addition I did the airline house mod. That also helped them from shutting down when calcium built up on the shaft.
I wish I could find the thread I read about this subject . It was just about 2 weeks ago. Several members linked their pump failures on vinegar soaks. There were several. If I recall, the full strength vinegar soak swelled some kind of seal on the pumps. Others that diluted and only wiped the pumps down didn't have the same failures.

I use full strength, the 11% distilled vinegar, many are only 9%. No issues with either my cp40s or slw-20 pumps. Same with my dcp20000 and dcq10000 pumps

I have a jebao but I don’t use it any more. I ran it a couple months but it started to spark when plugged in so don’t trust it. It worked great but it’s not worth the risk of a house fire.

I believe it was Randy Holmes Farley that discussed the trouble with vinegar for cleaning pumps. Apparently the vinegar can penetrate some plastics and cause the magnets to swell and fail. There have been several threads about this happening on MP40's and causing the magnets to swell and rust in the tank. I no longer use vinegar. Instead I ordered a LARGE bag of powdered citric acid on Amazon. Add some to water, stir until it is dissolved, and soak the pump in it overnight. Works just as well as vinegar, is cheap, has no odor, and doesn't penetrate plastic, so no swelling magnets.

Jebao SOW Wavemakers are available in 4 models (SOW-4, SOW-8, SOW-15, and SOW-20). Similar to the previous OW series, the biggest updates to the Jebao SOW Wavemakers is the continued improvements of the motor, which has been significantly improved to withstand damages, and having it much more silent than previous models

2013---Jebao released wavemaker WP-10; WP-25; WP-40; WP-60
2014---Jebao released wavemaker RW-4; RW-8; RW-15; RW-20
2016---Jebao released wavemaker SW-4; SW-8; SW-15; SW-20
2017---Jebao released wavemaker OW-10; OW-25; OW-40; OW-50
2019---Jebao released SINE wavemaker SOW-4; SOW-8; SOW-15; SOW-20
Any idea where the DT series fits in?

This is what I have, cant say its 100% accurate...

Powerheads -
2013 - Jebao released wavemaker WP-10; WP-25; WP-40; WP-60
2014 - Jebao released wavemaker RW-4; RW-8; RW-15; RW-20
2016 - Jebao released wavemaker SW-4; SW-8; SW-15; SW-20
2017 - Jebao released wavemaker OW-10; OW-25; OW-40; OW-50
2019 - Jebao released SINE wavemaker SOW-4; SOW-8; SOW-15; SOW-20
2019 - SDW 5-9-16 DW Series Sound is higher than SOW
2020? - SLW RPM not strong because of wide blades, ideal for NANO TANKS. SLW had review of wide flow vs. straight flow. Square tanks good long tanks get two.

Return Pumps -
DC is the oldest and first version
2014 - DCT 2n
2015 - DCS 3rd and
2016 - DCW replaces DCS (looks like the DCP has a better controller for the models above 4000lph, providing increases in 1% intervals above 40% vs 10 step control in the DCW.)
2016 OCT. DCP
2019 MDC - Jebao MDC series is a submersible pump that can be controller with the wired controller and also using the Jebao Aqua app

Three, Jebao return pumps, 4 wave makers, 2 gyres, UV, have worked flawlessly for me going beyond 4 years now and when serviced regularly.

Sometimes, those bad occurrences resulted from the mis use of the product or poorly maintained units.

Ive seen a Hyundai car burn up, but I still drive one.

I’ve had the wp40 , rw15
The wp 40 still works and it’s used for mixing water .
the rw15 quit about 6 months after I bought it .
I now use the one similar to the gyre ( more powerful in my opinion and for a fraction of the price .

my return and external skimmers I use jeabo dc pumps ( 6000 for the skimmer and 15000 for return pump )

I've had the jebao sow4 in my dt for 15 months now and it is by far my favorite powerhead I've ever purchased. It's dead silent and powerful for its size. I recently purchased a tunze nanostream for my sump and put it in my dt just to do a side by side comparison of the sow4. The sow4 is half the size and has more flow. It looks better too. The ONLY thing I do not love about this powerhead (not counting instructions!) Is whenever I have to unplug the cord from the controller, when I plug it back in sparks shoot out. Gotta wonder when that's finally going to fry the unit.

I have a few jeabo dc pumps that do the same .
makes you wonder why .
@CanuckReefer

why would a dc pump shoot sparks every time they’re plugged in ?

When the female connector is inserted into the hole on the controller and the male pin goes into the plug, an arc is created at that point with an accompanied zapping noise. My Hyyger return pump does the same thing. I also have a Nero 5 which doesn't do that. Imagine that!

Like a car battery when you first connect the wires. They also are dc. In reality your supposed to unplug the power brick first, and plug the brick back in AFTER reconnecting power to the pump. , since the pump is going to draw power, the second theres power close enough to the draw, its going to arc, like a car battery, or spark plugs

Did anyone try the new MOW seiries yet?

Cheap!.png

I am temped to pull the trigger on these for my 6' Budget build Peninsula tank.

Worth every dime been running them for the last 4 years and no failures SW 15,SW 8 DCP 6000 DC 1000.
I run all my return pumps through them as well.. I have currently 9 of them running and not a single failure for the return pumps. I was wondering how the new app was, it looks like it will do a well enough job for what I want.

I also was wondering if the Grye would play nice with the MOW's in the app...
