Let QT begin!

Thanks. I'm following along and I will soon qt a PBT. I will not have CP so I will be using copper safe

Today's update: moved the sailfin to a clean nonmedicated tank. Trying to get him eating again. He's had no signs of sickness since I've had him. The powder brown looks great. Fin damage is almost completely grown back and eating great.

I almost killed all the tangs. Last night I did a water change and unplugged the heater the plug the pump in. I forgot to plug the heater back in. Got up this morning and the water was 72. Forgetful

As I get older, I find setting a timer to remind me that I need to do something and put a sticky note on the timer/phone helps. Cheers!

All the tangs are now out of copper. They are in an non medicated tank for observation. The anthias are on day 8 of copper. The majority have stopped eating, a couple are still picking at food. 1 does not look good at all. I'm pulling the copper today. They aren't tolerating it well.

Today's update: stopped copper with the anthias. Lost one this afternoon. Hopefully the rest perk up soon

Did you transfer them into a clean QT or just remove copper from the tank they're in?

I just removed the copper, as I didn't know if 10 days was long enough. Im going to let them rest and fatten up then try again.

It would have been enough if you had transferred them to a different QT at least 10 feet away.

Hey bud I'm glad you hung in there and stuck to your guns, make sure the fish didn't have anything before you compromised your tank.

Tangs are great. All eating and look healthy. The anthia tank is 25gal I did about 23-24 gal water change. Test is showing just a trace of copper. Still not really eating much. Hopefully it gets better

I set up a quarantine tank yesterday for a blotchy anthias that a friend was getting rid of due to moving away. His tank looks amazing but still I wanted to quarantine just in case.

Two questions.

1) Why are you copper dosing if there was nothing wrong with the fish to start with? I'm new to the quarantine and just thought that the QT was to observe and then treat if there was any problem?
2) How long should the QT be if the fish is eating and acting normal?

my reason is; I being very cautious. I don't want to miss something just because they are asymptomatic. Fish come from a wholesaler and odds are they aren't completely disease free. This is really my first go at strict QT. I used to be a lot more lax and then velvet got me. I'd rather have the trouble now than have the trouble later in my DT.

In your instance i'd wait for a more professional input on QT time. It really depends on how well you knew your friend. And if you believe his fish are disease free. I'd watch for a week or 2 anyway.

I'm starting up a quarantine system soon. Thanks for sharing this so I can follow along.

More bad news. Got home today and another dead anthia. The remaining 5 are all breathing very fast. I FW dipped the 2 dead ones. Nothing showed in the dips. And they've already been through 2 rounds of prazi. This is going downhill.

On a side note, tangs are great

dang bro I though the anthia were all good.....let me know if I can help I'm right around the corner bud.
