Michigan reefers?

I was wondering about the possibility of a club starting up in the GR area. I know there is GVAC that is dominated by the freshwater side. I was thinking it would be much more fun to be able to trade corals and information with other local reefers. I'm in spring lake but work in GR.
As someone just getting started, I also think it is an excellent idea! I know gvac occasionally gets a Facebook post about the salty side, but it is mainly fresh water. There is another Facebook group for “west michigan” reefers but it seems to mainly get classified postings (not that I am complaining as that is how I have got some of my gear).

Ha yeah I'm probably one of the ones that post the most saltwater stuff on gvac, and am an active member so I could invite those that I know that keep saltwater from the group.

It looks like we already have 4-5 people which is a start. I guess it would probably be good to arrange some kind of meeting to go over logistics or just talk about corals. I'll ask some of the founding members of gvac and see how they started.

Keep us updated. This definitely should happen

Is there anyone from the west side or GR area of Michigan? It's so difficult to find people with reefs to buy or trade or even talk about experience etc.

I am near Sparta, basically right next to GR!

I've been talking with the vp of gvac and it sounds like there used to be one. I have reached out to one of the members that had been leading it to get some more information. He's an active member of GVAC and I had no idea he was into saltwater as well.

I have always wondered why there’s a Wyoming in Michigan xD

edit: or a Michigan city Indiana for that matter lol

Being from Michigan City, Indiana, you do not know how many times people assumed Michigan for the state and the issues that caused. "But Michigan is in the name of the city, what do you mean it isn't in Michigan..."

Same thing, I work(ed) in Wyoming, MI. The amount of times there was awkward silence on the phone from vendors when I would say, "I will be in Wyoming tomorrow, I can meet you there"

I can imagine the awkward silence on those phone calls, good to know I’m not the only one who thinks these things too lol

Surrounded by lakes and water everywhere you think there would be more of us in Michigan.
East side of the state for me though Clarkston area.
I'm guessing by the location of most of the swap vendors that there are more on that side of the state.

SE Michigan for me. In Canton. Couple nice coral places within a short drive. Cherry Corals and Tropicorium. Also a few LFS for fish and essentials.
