Yes, but more of a merger. Ecotech Marine, BRS, Aqua Illumination, Neptune Systems, and Leap (reptile stuff) are now all part of the same company. Aperture Pet and Life.I got out of reefing for about 5 years and just now back into it. So many companies have been absorbed into other companies like Marine Depot. I also heard that Ecotech was bought out by BRS!![]()
I have 2 of the mlw 30’s in my frag tank and they move some serious water! Getting them onto the app and wifi was a complete pita though.I was thinking about adding another Nero (been looking at the Nero 5 and 7) to my tank. If the prices are going up again, maybe it’s time to consider trying one of those Jebao wavemakers.
Cough cough brsOther factors??? You mean greed from the company who’s cornering the market and giving small lfs ridiculous wholesale prices that leave a tiny profit margin? I avoid this company like the plague!
because people who are sponsored by these companies on YouTube and other social media platforms make it out like these products are the only option if you want a successful reef tankThere are just so many better options out there for less money I dont know why people still buy this overpriced crap.
I lobe my jebaos, if you are a halfway decent DIYer you can hook them up to different controllers. But I use the wifi smart ones and jebao recently overhauled the app so it's been pretty dope.I was thinking about adding another Nero (been looking at the Nero 5 and 7) to my tank. Not gonna lie, the no cord thing is pretty cool, but at the sacrifice of being able to angle them It's not for me, unless I ran extra undersized ones and had them on something like a hydros wave engine.because people who are sponsored by these companies on YouTube and other social media platforms make it out like these products are the only option if you want a successful reef tank
I agree I have 2 mp40s on my tank they are great but when they die one day I will not be replacing them with new mps. I will most definitely go in a different direction. Not gonna lie, the no cord thing is pretty cool, but at the sacrifice of being able to angle them It's not for me, unless I ran extra undersized ones and had them on something like a hydros wave engine.
Yes. On September 8th, AI, Ecotech, and Neptune products will all increase in price due to inflation and other factors. This was communicated to retailers who sell those products.
I believe this trend will be continuous and questions at what point do we " Have enough" and seek other products or hobbies.
You dont want to join their $700-$1000 per item club ?Your comment helped me to realize that I tend to "leave" a hobby because I've gotten to a point where the cost to take it to the next level outweighs my interest.
This can happen really fast with reefing. I have been priced out of most upgrades and 90% of my equipment is second hand (Used 2 year old waterbox, apex, kh director, dosing pumps, mp40, neptune gro, sump, display lighting, dosing containers, skimmmer). I can't buy anything from Ecotech new, AI, or Apex new.
It's the 8th and the MP40 price is the same on BRS (so far).

Have you seen these. It's a pretty cool option for the Vortechs to be able to angle them. Not gonna lie, the no cord thing is pretty cool, but at the sacrifice of being able to angle them It's not for me, unless I ran extra undersized ones and had them on something like a hydros wave engine.
