So true. I love paying more and more for all of the things out there because that’s how I get to feel rich and happy and successful. The printing of money and unending creation of wealth prevents prices from going up, but many economists argue that it’s necessary to prevent a stagnant supply of empty shelves and unemployment. We all have to do our part to ensure that it never happens again.

Now let’s take a look at football and this weeks disastrous weather forecast.

In my tank I have them on the back wall and don't want any cords, so it's either pay up or have cords.

It's not the same, but a closed loop with movable loc-line nozzles is becoming a decent option with the cost of these powerheads being what they are. Also, no cords!

Closed lol is an awesome option, just requires much more planning to implement. I really like what David Saxby did with his closed loop. No holes in his tank. He plumbed them all externally. Hard to explain but if you you have time I think it's explained in this video on his site.

People hate it when I post this, but everybody who has ever bought a Chinese knockoff product has contributed to this price hike in some way. EcoTech and the legit companies still have to do all of the R&D but with more business going to patent stealers and stuff, there is less product sales to spread out the cost.

LOL this is the most ridiculous thing I ever read. More competition is good, not worse. You are basically saying that because sales go down, vendors should increase price?! Thats absurd. Vendor should lower price to increase sales, not the other way around. If they don't want Chinese knockoff to cut into their bottom line, then provide more feature, better quality, and better reliability.

I am not advocating for Chinese knockoffs but to use that as an excuse to justify price increase is ridiculous.

Your comment helped me to realize that I tend to "leave" a hobby because I've gotten to a point where the cost to take it to the next level outweighs my interest.

This can happen really fast with reefing. I have been priced out of most upgrades and 90% of my equipment is second hand (Used 2 year old waterbox, apex, kh director, dosing pumps, mp40, neptune gro, sump, display lighting, dosing containers, skimmmer). I can't buy anything from Ecotech new, AI, or Apex new.

You don't need to buy ANYTHING to take your reefing to the next level besides salt and RODI to make your water.

I love all my Jebao equipment, 4 gyres, 4 wave, 2 return pumps.
Still running now past the 5 year mark.
Price has remained stable.
4 Viparspectra lights now 6 years old.
I buy what’s works, regardless of origin.
If you don’t buy the increase, there’s no increase, and price falls.

Anyone paying a grand per light is not planning well or doesn't manage money well...Radions sales such tank at that price. But it's not just lights it's everything.

I don't care if people pay a grand for a light. If they do, I just don't want to hear them complain about the cost, that the app sucks, that the connectivity is bad, that the upgrades can make the unit worse or that it does not last. They should know all of this going in. If folks still want to buy one, then having fun with your money is the best thing to do with it since paying insurance, bills, etc. sucks.

I have one piece of EcoTech stuff in my house. Let me tell you that you do not have to have any of it and there are better products out there for everything that they made. I have an xr30 that I won as a prize and it is OK, but I would not pay retail for it. They pumps don't last long enough or have enough head pressure for me. I like tunze flow pumps since they last for decades. I want nothing to do with an app or wifi - built in controller with buttons is fine with me.

All of this said, a local just sold 3x Gen3 Radions for like $300 and I doubt that you could have a better tank with the new ones. Look used and roll the dice on the warranty.

It's crazy. I like their products and was willing to pay a premium, but over the last 2 years the prices have gotten out of control.

For example the Versa pumps were 99 dollars 2 years ago, now they are 209! Just crazy.

I've been looking at some Neptune items since starting a new tank and was shocked when i saw a 15$ increase on the ATO kit. So I did some digging, found this thread and made a little list.

So far It doesnt look like the SKY light, apex JR, or DOS pump has changed. I dont even know why they bothered to look at the price of the WAV, they cant even get their supply chain up to speed. People have given up on those pumps and just gone ecotech, which is a shame since it clears up power bricks and streamlines peoples flow control. I personally like everything under one app and will pay a little more, but im starting to say screw it and go Chinese.

I been buying up used gen 4 s and mp-10/40 my gen 4 pros I paid like 679.00 for I believe 1000 for a light and I need 4 of them no way in hell they have become extremely greedy there’s enough used and the gen 4 is a way better light then the low par crap they offer now

There are so many better options especially for lighting then Radions. Orpheks, reefi, and t5 can grow coral the same if not better than Radions and cost way less. People need to stop thinking the only way you can have successful sps tank is with Radions lights, that simply is not true. As for return pumps Reef octopus and sicce are great alternatives to Cors and Vectra. As for wave pumps it’s hard to beat the vortechs but now with the price increase there’s no way people will shell out 1000 for two mp40s that’s just insane. I really hope people start to thinking about buying products outside of aperture products because they will continue to raise prices and the only way to combat this is to boycott them. They will continue to ruin this hobby and make it unaffordable for
hobbyist. We already pay insane amount for shipping, salt, fish and coral prices I think we can put our foot down on these insane equipment prices for aperture. Please don’t come at me with the inflation and R&D I understand, but no one raises their prices as often as aperture does. Rant over
