Hey guys,
I just purchased the AF probiotic salt, and i have a question of how to get it going. Do i have to change out the water in the whole tank. Obviously not all at once, but lets say within a few days. Or can i just continue with my weekly 10% wc.? Also what other products are necessary. Im also currently using comp 123 Ballin. Thanks guys.

ive heard just do you regularly scheduled water changes to allow time for the tank to gradually adapt to the new salt. i cant site any of that but changes over time tend to do best in this hobby.

Yes - You Can start to do Water change 10%weekly.
Aquaforest Probiotic Reef Salt contains Probiotic bacteria, culture medium for them amino and vitamins so we recommend to not do it at once;)

Hope you don't mind me jumping on discussion but I'm wanting to start my whole AF System
I have everything I need I think Coarl E and Carbon are back ordered
Question is, as I introduce salt with my water changes in my tank is it safe to use my UV sterilizer or do I have to stop use of this piece of equipment

Can wait my stuff is small now but thats why I'm going threw all this work.. No UV right?? Still don't have a clue what I'm doing.
So far I have just done 10% water change with probio salt trying to get Alk down and I have used some of the coral enhancers.. Have not added any media yet(phos/carbon)

No i dont run any UV sterilization. Just carbon/gfo passibly on a bag, and 1 lt of matrix which im going to increase to 2 lts. As far as the enhancers, im doing nppro, probio s, coral b , coral e 2 drops daily and coral a and coral V 1 drop every other day.

1-drop-2 drop? How big it your tank? I did 4 drops lastnight of each C-A,C-V,C-B, C-E out of stock till end of week 100g

Do you know where to get a better guide on usage and dosing of the stuff? I just have the Guide that they sent to me and it seems more like a product catalog

Correction, 2 drops of everything not 1.

Tank is 62g cube with a 20g sump. Im on week 3 the program. I started everything at half dosage so 1 drop of each. Just recently bumped it to 2 drops of everything, but in the same schedule i mentioned before. I like to start things slow, specially with ULNS . Ohh im also at 8 ml a day of components 1 2 3. I started at 25 ml a day which is half, and it shot up my alk to 9 dkh. RTN righ away. At 8 ml im right at 7.7 which is perfect for me

@Aquaforest What if we only use the Probiotics Reef Salt salt? Is the salt as good as others such as Seachem Reef Salt that I am currently using and doing well with? Or do you have to add the components 1,2,3 as well as the other items? I am running a 180g mixed reef 50% or more SPS. I am already dosing KH, CA and MG and use BRS Rox.08 carbon and BRS High Capacity GFO. So if I simply change to this salt (for starters) will it be safe and will it be just as good as the one I am currently using?

I also started just using the salt...but I have a plethora of products on the way for the full system (they were back ordered).

Should I NOT be running my UV?

What do you think of the salt so far? I want to start with the salt and possibly change to the 1,2,3 components in time

It's a little too early to tell...I had a high Alk spike that put some pieces into stress mode. I've done two water changes this week with the salt to bring it down. So far I am pleased with how well it mixes. 15-20 minutes and it is ready to go, the quality sheet that comes with the salt has been spot on and they even give you a little graduated scooper ( in liters) but a nice little addition.

I've seen an improvement in polyp extension, but the skeptic I am will attribute that you high Alk. But as noted I am pleased with results thus far.

I am three weeks in and LOVE it! The results are there, the program is super simple, and the price is much better than say Zeo, etc.
