I'll clarify so this doesn't get turned into something it is not.

I whole heartedly do not believe that I have not had any post edited/deleted for personal attacks.

I did have two post removed.

I felt that this was appropriate because I quoted other post in those post.

I believe that those two quoted post were not inline with the TOS. They were however in the body of my posts.

They were justly removed and I should have known better and behaved better. Quoting something that violates the TOS is just as bad as doing it myself.

This is a family friendly environment and we should all respect and appreciate that.

In lieu of UWC continuing to drag this out by stalling, can I ask why in good conscience they're still allowed to advertise on R2R? There's more than a bit of subtle irony in the fact that I've seen 3 banners for Vibrant while scrolling through this thread for updates...

If you follow the B77 dosing protocol for your pool laid out in that doc... (1oz per 1,000 US gal)... 1 oz =29.6 ml; 29.6 ml / 3,785 l = 0.0078 ml/l or 7.8 ppm; but the 'pure' stuff seems to be only 60% by weight, so maybe 4.7ppm...

Vibrant rec. dosing is 1ml/10gal of water, 0.026 ml/l, or 26ppm, but it's 4.5% soln by weight, so around 1.17ppm dosed to your tank (if you followed the directions).

So, if you had corals in your saltwater swimming pool, I think they might be in trouble.

I think you should probably slow down in your antagonism since it's becoming quite obvious you're just attacking people without thinking. I think everyone in this thread has been quite cordial to your concerns.


Edit: Also I think you've completely misinterpreted Randy's and other's arguments. On principle, we as stewards of our hobby and the environment, should be concerned when we release any type of potentially harmful chemical. Whether or not Vibrant actually is harmful isn't important. Ethics doesn't begin when harm is done. What is important is that we continue to demand transparency in reporting so that everyone can make an informed decision. If not vibrant, there may be a day when we will have wished that irresponsible use of poorly understood chemicals was better policed by the hobby. The battle for our continued access to powerful antibiotics for hobby use is only an example of what might come for repeated violations.

It's the same thing as algaefix accoridng to the tests, which means it's safe to pour down the drain.

Yes it does appear Vibrant is mislabeled and there is no excuse for that, nor have I seen anyone make excuses for it in this thread. It's really not even being debated anymore that I can see. Other than if you say anything against someone's negative remarks towards the product, you are deemed as defending UWC. Which is where I constantly find myself.

There is also no excuse for pretending it's more dangerous than it is, when the tests that are being used to say Vibrant is mislabeled also say that it's algaefix. Algaefix is EPA approved. Perhaps UWC can get in trouble for not being EPA approved and all sorts of stuff. But if UWC did get EPA approval, it appears it would be exactly the same as algaefix, since they are the same. Doesn't excuse UWC's lies, but it does mean we know how to properly use and dispose of it.

… I see no positive benefit so far other than a format to troll, shill, vent or argue … ( I have maybe 10 or more useless post personally)
I’ll admit to trolling personally as I doubt @UWC will ever surface here or anywhere else again, under that moniker anyway

I really feel this. But I finally am doing it here b/c the way the person in question keeps misinterpreting and combatting on as if the person they’re misinterpreting either needs to go away or align with their misinterpreted view, then objectivity in pointing it out gets called pitchforks, has made me realize I don’t have a desire to engage w/that person overall. That has happened multiple times from the same poster. Who needs that?

Except - something is wrong here. The same algaecide is used in POOLS and outdoor ponds. We swim in this 'pesticide' - and backwash our pool every so often when it rains. So - With all due respect, there has to be some misunderstanding.

It seems pretty obvious to me that the amount of this stuff required to cause harm is pretty large. This stuff is used in ponds and other things, so the threat is obviously not as high as some of you are trying to push it off as.

Why is a chemist pretending the amount of the product isn't a big deal? We are talking about small amounts. It itself comes in a bottle that is already diluted. You're kind of acting like someone putting some fertilizer on their lawn is going to run off and cause a red tide or something. The danger is obviously non-existant in such small amounts.

Now if I was going to take a bunch of tanker trucks full of it and dump it out, I could see where that might be an issue. But it's simply ridiculous to pretend like the amount an aquarium user has is somehow illegal to put down their drain. The dosage amounts are so low, even sensitive coral live through it.

If you drink too much water, it will poison you. That doesn't mean water in smaller amounts is dangerous to you.

You've still not posted any official info regarding disposal of the algaecide itself. Just your own ideas of what is to take place.

I did. I posted the EXACT disposal method for containers 5 gallons or less that are nonrefillable.
